Matt Frank has a style for ponies that’s about halfway between the style of the show and realistic horses.

I was mainly just joking about the realistic thing, except for maybe a one off gag comic :p
 
I kind of prefer more anime style ponies, like the Power ponies comic.

Australian stores are outright refusing to carry them, thanks to conservatives like (Edit: Rule #8) from (Edit: Rule #8) who says that all forms of play are as genetically ingrained as fear. I don’t believe it myself…

its too bad the nations outside of the US are reluctant to carry them, they sold like crazy during the holidays over here, and did pretty well on amazon.
 
Maybe the data will convince other stores to take a chance?

Man, this guy already works for IDW. Why don’t they get him to draw a full issue?! He just drew a cover a few months back!

Not likely. Here in Aus there are people who are hellbent on believing gender neutral toys means shapeless clay that will turn kids androgynous. Seriously, there are people out there who think that.

At least he is drawing Spike I guess? I feel like an artist with such a goofy style shouldn’t be working on anything in this series much less something designed to be so actiony as a dragon wearing armor.

And Matt Frank said he wanted to draw an issue back in 2014. I think all IDW would have to do is ask.

A recurring problem, for sure. For me it’s the bipedal poses and overall sloppiness of his art.

The background issue is a problem too. The most you will get is generic out of place buildings and stuff, at worst characters in white voids. Even Garbowska doesn’t do that.
 
Hopefully Frank gets a full issue.

Garbowska has this annoying habit of cutting corners by drawing buildings using straight lines and geometric shapes, when the cartoon’s style for buildings is always using uneven shapes and never using straight lines for anything.
 
The result looks as if Garbowska just spends 2 minutes drawing straight lines with a ruler and calls it a day.

I’ll give her a lot of leeway because her flaws are mostly “fridge logic” tier. Fosgitts art actively makes a story harder to follow because not only is his anatomy and perspective terrible but so is his composition.

Crappy art, offmodel characters and Jay’s favorite friend, aka the gradient tool filler.
 
As I said, Giant Spike was the first comic I had been considering to purchase on years and it just had to be the one that got the cursed “artist”.
 
You know, I would like to work for IDW. It’s like the ideal job where you can be a complete ass and literally half ass eveything and do as you please, because no matter what you do, you still keep the job.

From what we have seen announced so far, is there any comic that seems to be at least promising?

Legends of Magic?

Seriously, I just don’t get it. Most of IDW’s other books are written and drawn by people who clearly love the source material and know what they’re doing (occasional inconsistencies in the Transformers books aside, but even those are way better now than things were with the Transformers books in their early run). Why doesn’t MLP get the same treatment?

Because its editor doesn’t care and never really has. He just wants to work on TMNT.

They took down their own boards to prevent people from contacting them and express their critics and concerns (vaild and non valid) for what they do with their favorite franchises.
 
I suppose BBC wans’t wrong when it refused to renovate Doctor Who’s license to IDW once it expired and passed it to Titan Comics instead.
