“Equestria Girls, the parallel universe where we meet the human versions of the ponies from My Little Pony is not forgotten, on the contrary, Hasbro plans to develop the world of the first movie with a new animated series which should be called “Equestria Academy, the school of successes”. It will be shown in France in november 2014 at the KidExpo.”
 
What happened to that, I don’t know. I doubt it’s an accidental misnaming of Rainbow Rocks, since the title of “Rainbow Rocks” can be seen on the displays. They also reffer tl it, explicitly, as an animated series.
 
Looking for more information only lends me never-ending posts reporting that same article. You know, Equestria Daily and stuff.  
Looking in Toyzmag (the french site) lends nothing else.  
They mentioned another publication (Le Revue du Jouets) but I recall searching high and low for any article of the magazine that referenced Equestria Academy and left empty-handed a long time ago.
 
It is unlikely to be outsourced, but it’s a possibility to have another company take a shot at the ponypeople if it seems unfeasible to handle it with the current team.

Has anyone heard anything more about that? It’s been 18 months; barring any further information, I’m going to assume it was some sort of miscommunication/mistranslation and was intended to refer to one or both of the first two Equestria Girls movies.
 
And while it’s possible Hasbro would outsource EG to another company (or DHX might do so themselves), I’d say it’s unlikely given how happy Hasbro seems to be with the movies, and how happy the DHX staffers are to be working on them.

I mean, I think it remains as only speculation, but the fact it got announced in France and was set to premiere in a french expo makes me think it was going to be made by a french company.
