Ummm… Yes? All tacos are best tacos. No seriously, I love all forms of tacos. Hardshell or soft, flour or corn tortilla, ground beef taco, fajita taco, breakfast taco of nearly any filling. I live near the border so the terms on what is what specifically get interchanged a lot depending on how authentic the restaurant is and most do serve “soft” tacos. But, though the Mexican guy is technically correct, things change a bit the further way from the source they get. People like to bitch about semantics, from football to BBQ, where every word MUST fit their exact definition. But language is flexible and varies a lot.
tl;dr: Tacos of any definition are delicious. Eat more tacos, argue less.
pfffff LOL…yea sure dude keep tinking tinking that if you like XD….lol…good joke…american tacos better than Meexican ones…dude you gave me a seriously good laught
First of all, hard tacos are not tostadas. You can see that plainly. Second of all, most people are aware that tex mex tacos are different than Mexican tacos.
And they also happen to be superior.
It’s like if I declared that the original type of football (which, no, is not association football, though that’s probably the oldest surviving form) was the only real football. There are multiple kinds of football games, from rugby to American football to association football. Similarly, there are multiple kinds of tacos.
Deal with it and stop acting like such an asshole just because Americans made tacos better.
@viamont
From my experience (friends of our family took us on a cruise down the west coast) as long as you’re in a tourist-y area they’re likely to offer an american style taco.
actually…yes, Mexico its the place where the taco originated so whe say what a taco is…texmex its a convination of border food, it could be called one but might no be the “true” thing.
Taco: Soft tortilla with stuff inside
Tostada: Tortilla that its deydrated on the sun to become hard and crunchy, then stuff its put over it
Quesadilla: bigger than normal tortilla with stuff inside, folded by half then generally fried out on oil, theres two kind, slightly fried or fully fried
Flauta: Very long tortilla with less stuff inside, instead its served covered in cream, letuce and chesse
Like it or not if you come to mexico and ask a taco you will get the first one, soft tortilla with watever you want inside, if you ask for the “hard shell ones” you are most liekely to get a quesadilla or a tostada…or worst case scenario a “WTF do you want?” stare
The phazon seed was in the hard shell.
I swear.
So repugnant that Dark Samus infected you with a seed of self-replicating Phazon?
That’s bad.
They’re just that repugnant.
Why did hardshell tacos make you vomit phazon?
I can understand throwing up normally, but phazon?
THAT is unhealthy.
as it should
Taco drama is now a tag. Enjoy!
We should add one. There was quite a bit of taco drama around the time of Rainbow Rocks…
It’s not Mexican, but I also love an authentic cubano!

The artist arrives.
Do tell and end this bickering, what’s your preferred style of taco?

What my family calls tostadas are flat, fried tortillas with all the makings of a taco supported with beans.
Are we doing that wrong too?
I call it raw because that’s just my admittedly cripplingly-picky tastes.
For the record, these “Harshell Tacos” as you call them are more akin to a Tostada than a Taco. And yes, they are delicious.
Less cheesy.
