If I may weigh in on this…  
If Rainbow Dash is Captain America  
then Spike is Bucky,  
and Scootaloo is Falcon.
 
That scene where she grows those giant wings in dream world really sold that to me.

That would’ve really pissed me off. Sure, let’s kicks Spike out of his own group of friends and stick someone else in there, implying not only that there isn’t any room for him, but is interchangeable.
I get that Scootaloo has a closer relationship with Dash than Spike, but it always makes me feel bad to break up the mane seven, and it doesn’t seem right to forget that Spike is Dashie’s friend, too…I think. Whatever the case, don’t forget that Spike thought she was awesome when he met her.
 
Not to mention that Spike is Rainbow Dash v2.0…
