The thing is, I usually grow tired of acknowledging the poor quality of things I see and after a while I start looking for things I like.
It’s expected that I would look for such things far away from the bad things (abandoning Newborn Cuties altogether in favor of another cartoon), but I for some reason start searching amid them. Because why not.
Maybe it’s because I focus on the story, and I wonder if Newborn Cuties would make a decent short book.
Or probably I don’t mind its artstyle because I see that what the author wanted to accomplish and what came out in the end are pretty similar things - there’s no blatant animation errors, no timing mistakes, no palette problems, no positioning glitches, everything (virtually - I’m sure one can find errors if one searches hard enough) in Newborn Cuties animation is according to the plan.
The plan may be viewed as rubbish, sure, but the fact that it’s being followed, for some reason seems to be a positive thing to me. I can try to explain it, but I don’t think I’ll succeed. I don’t fully get it myself.
Or probably it’s a mental state that I developed from being a Sonic fan since SADX :P
I don’t really need to be an expert on it to know the style looks terrible though, and it seemed to me like you were defending it. I don’t actually believe they made it to be terrible… but if they did they really hit the mark.
That was not an excuse, that’s a piece of information to know, because, oh, I know how terribly misinformed people tend to be when it comes to G3-G3.5.
I can’t post a link to any image of what I’m refering to exactly, as Demonophobia is a guro game(Thus being above the rating of this image).
I’ll say this though: What I referenced is an instant kill attack that has to be avoided. A sphere zooms at your character, If caught in it, it floats you up in the air, a bunch of nasty sharp objects appear. Next they go into the sphere and “puree” your character alive.
I have no idea what you’re referring to…
That’s a terrible excuse, because I’m sure the only reason was because Hasbro gave them a tiny budget to work with. Plus honestly, even with those limitations in mind it’s terrible. I’ve seen non-professional animators do more with literally no budget.
Take into account that Newborn Cuties was essentially made by one person.
He had a team of 10-20 people, sure, but the majority of stuff was either completely done, partially done, or overseen by one guy.
Someone had to. I took the burden upon myself.
To say nothing of pony legs not bending that way. Or being that long relative to the forelegs.
I once analyzed this thing, and came to the conclusion that it’s the equivalent of those hyped brony animations people talk about once in a while.
I can defend G3 and even most of 3.5. They’re basically cute, harmless fun and actually have some decent animation for the most part.
I CAN’T defend this abomination at all.
