I’m a fan of G3, and I’m male. I also never saw G3 at the time it was on (I was too busy going to university at that time). Basically, I mess up every idea about fans, hahaha. :P
(I did watch G1 in the 1980s because my sister and I were close in age and our parents just put us both in front of the telly to watch all the cartoons - including MLP - every Saturday morning. This led to us always having very similar tastes in TV shows since)
From what I can tell fans of G3 were young children when it was around in the mid to late 2000s. Male fans are few, but do exist, likely because of female siblings. :3

It looks like the stupid G1 hate’s died down mostly. Me, I think G3 is decent, but it’s definitely not the best.
No. Fans generally like G1, if you’ve not yet noticed. It’s G3 not everypony is fond of.

Well, it did have Spike say “did you get fatter?” Sounds insulting to me, why not just say “chubby” or something?

Where does it say it thinks the old ones were bad? It just mentions their voices.
I doubt it. They just think other versions of themselves look weird. What would you think would be his first reaction if Modern Mario met Classic Mario and/or Captain Lou?
