I don’t know why I polished this image so much, I planned to make it as a quick drawing in a simple comic style. Maybe my recent dark thoughts led me to use it as a practice material. As always there still are some things on which I could work more but I think that I’ve already spent enough (if not too much) time on this piece.

Anyway - this is the picture that came to my mind when I was listening about CMC issue with their cutie marks over and over.

While looking for references I learned an interesting thing that an old animal hot branding is no more used. Nowaday used so called “freeze branding” doesn’t inflict such pain to animals.
