I don’t know why I polished this image so much, I planned to make it as a quick drawing in a simple comic style. Maybe my recent dark thoughts led me to use it as a practice material. As always there still are some things on which I could work more but I think that I’ve already spent enough (if not too much) time on this piece.Anyway - this is the picture that came to my mind when I was listening about CMC issue with their cutie marks over and over.While looking for references I learned an interesting thing that an old animal hot branding is no more used. Nowaday used so called “freeze branding” doesn’t inflict such pain to animals.
Art by me.
Apple Bloom - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Lauren Faust/Hasbro
I can relate
My accident was when I splashed the burning hot grease out of the frying pan and all over my hand.
It’s very likely that Bloomie just asked somebody for assistance, to help her with hot branding. That could be either Scootaloo or Sweetie Belle who’s been holding a branding iron.
The mane question I have right now is…how in the hay did Bloomie reach around back there and do all that with a STRAIGHT branding iron?
Apple Bloom is choosing her own cutie mark, and her own destiny. I really gotta admire that.
And her cutiemark reflects the self-harming/mutilation that came with branding herself.
P.S Applebloom, don’t forget the other side! Not like you could’ve just gotten a marker and drawn it on!
In the episode “The Cutie Mark Chronicles” about how all of the Mane 6 got their cutie marks, it was shown just appearing with a bit of a flash of magic, but they didn’t really seem to feel it at all, just saw that it was happening. :)
The Cutie Mark appearing probably hurts or at least feels weird.
@redweasel
My headcanon Apple Bloom performed heart surgery on herself once (to be fair, her heart is artificial in this alternate universe, as are her legs, spine and pelvis)
Now that’s what I call making a brand-name for yourself… =rimshot=
