Man, I remember this show when is was Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad I wish this would be an new series! Gridman was supposed to have a sequel called Gridman Sigma. It would be refreshing to see something from TRIGGER That wasn’t just scantily clad super-over-the-top fan service. I want it! ; 3;)
Actually, no, it wasn’t Saban. It was a different company trying to ride off of Saban’s success with the concept.
To add to the Gridman - Ultraman connection, Gridman got a figure under the UltraAct series.
And additional random fact: God Zenon (the one made from the three vehicles combined) was based on Optimus Prime, showing Takaratomy’s influence.
Gridman, produced by Tsurubaya, the same as the Ultraman franchise.
Should I say Ultraman, but inside the computer operating system.
And for a time, the toyline was produced by Takara (now TakaraTomy) as they also produced the Yuusha/Brave Super Mecha toys.

It was also brought over to the West by Saban as the Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. Gridman here was renamed Servo.
SSSS was also notable for having Tim Curry voice the main villain.
I believe that’s the Japanese show that the fantasy footage was taken from.
Though the Christmas special was the only decent episode out of the small handful I re-watched recently.
