The off-screen implications seem fairly rare too. The only ones I can recall are that Scootaloo said that Spike told her about ziplining, and that they interviewed him as Gabby Gums.

Have Spike and Sweetie Belle (or Spike and any of the Crusaders, for that matter) actually spent any significant amount of time together in the show? I don’t think they have (though admittedly that has the potential to be a fun episode if they ever make it).

On those occasions when Sweetie Belle tries to be a mini Rarity, she tends to fall short of the mark. Granted I ship Sweetiebloom (someone has to), but setting Spike aside doesn’t change who Sweetie Belle is: cheerful, ditzy, and adorable.

Agreed completely. I’d sooner ship Spike with Applebloom. They’ve interacted more and have more in common IMO. Sweetie Belle really isn’t like her sister at all, much less elegant and a lot more ditzy. Applebloom has the perfect balance of smart/sophisticated with the same hard work ethic that her older sister and Rarity share.
 
That said I mainly ship Sparity. Besides, Fancy Pants? That guy’s already taken.
