I get the impression that guy might’ve been an unhinged hermit even compared to the drake norm. Couldn’t throw in so much as a “Hey, brat, were ya raised by timberwolves??” before making with the snappy-flamey.
I forgot about that guy.
True ’nuff. Then again, dragons can apparently sprout extra spiky bits now & again (see that big green guy in the owl episode), but whole appendages might be a stretch.
Or he could have been wingless, there’s no reason to suspect Spike will grow wings.
Equally probable. Some kinda latch might’ve worked for the wingholes.
Or maybe the artist just wasn’t thinking about that.
You’d think the undersides of that stuff would get crusty & irritating as hay after a while. Maybe he flame-warps the backpiece on & off.
Maybe he doesn’t. Maybe the armor was forged onto his body and doesn’t come off.
As I understand it, reactive panels explode to neutralize a projectile before it gets deep enough to mess up magazines and/or crew. Suppose those snazzy gold designs could be shielding runes that let the wearer soak a spell or two when playing bodyguard for VIPones. Dunno how Spike threads his batwings through those teensy holes, though.
I think the armor looks more like Chinese armor, which fits very well due to Chinese mythology on dragons.
Doesn’t matter if the armor is unnecessary.
The thirst is real for Rarity!
Think of it as reactive armor on a tank, it’s something like :“Congratulations, you managed to go through this layer of armor, now go through the other one.”
And armor on a dragon while awesome, is kinda redundant.
