I think the reason that culture exists, too, is because they have immortal and benign diarchs as their rulers. A benign dictatorship is the best form of government. IRL it never works out because a good king is inevitably eventually replaced by one who’s either incompetent or not-so-benevolent.
 
But in ponyverse, it works out great because Celestia’s immortal. It’s a double-whammy, too, because her great age, with her personality, gives her a tremendous amount of wisdom/competence in her rule. I have no doubt that she’s the shaping force behind Equestria’s wonderful culture.
 
As for humanity’s future, see the movie; “Transcendence.” I for one, welcome our new robot overlords XP

I admit, you and I probably differ in headcanon here. I’m personally of the opinion that ponies are just as capable of being monstrous as humans, if not moreso (exclusionary herd instint mixed with a tendency towards cartoonishly exaggerated personalities can be a heady mix). The general idyllic nature of Equestria speaks of their cultural strength, and not some inherent racial trait in Ponies.
 
I prefer this headcanon because that means it’s possible for humanity to one day achieve a society like this.
 
It helps that the most monstrous villian on this show, Sombra, was a Pony.
 
That said, Earth is most certainly worse at this time.

Well, yes. But in Equestria, most of the monsters are (as far as most ponies are concerned, at least) mindless beasts.
 
In the human world, it is the humans themselves, sentient creatures, who become monsters.

I see you have the Vietnam execution photo in there, and there’s a lot of misconception about that photo. The person being executed was a confirmed Vietcong agent who had been captured after killing a South Vietnamese Colonel, his wife and their six children. The photographer, Eddie Adams, came to regret the photo and apologized to Nguyen Ngoc Loan, the executioner.
 
An example of the harshness of war? Certainly. But it’s a photo the majority of people are radically uninformed about the context of.

This has me thinking of writing something about Sonata Dusk’s disillusionment with the world, though, coming from Equestria to a world that has all this…
 
I mean, think of it. And how they hated this world from the very start of the movie.
 
Her “airheadedness” is just, like, a coping mechanism. She tries to enjoy what she can of the world, because she’s so deeply disturbed by what else is out there that she tries to distract herself from things she finds distressing.

Twilight Sparkle: “This world is amazing!”  
Sonata Dusk: “No, Twilight. No it’s not. For realzies.”
