Sunset Shimmer should have been the Hanged Man. The Tarot isn’t about the pictures, it’s about the meaning behind them. The Hanged Man represents redemption, a person with a troubled past or may or may not be tethered to it, someone who has committed sin but is willing to perform penance, and someone who has suffered to learn their lessons.
 
What I find amusing though is that the Sun and Moon perfectly represent Celestia and Luna even without the whole Sun and Moon thing they have going.
 
The Sun is the mother and teacher and the bringer of life, as well as inspiration for Hope.
 
The Moon represents slumber, peace in the darkness, fear, nightmares, loneliness, the courage to face those things, those who are misunderstood, and those who are feared by others because they are dark, frightening or misunderstood.
 
Spike as the Fool is also a good choice. The Fool does not represent stupidity, it represents a lack of experience, beginnings and the start of a journey.
 
I always thought that Applejack would be Fortitude/Strength and Rainbow Dash would be the Chariot.
