I’ll hug anything, even spikes
Well, the distinction: I said they’d probably be less attracted to us, not just possibly.
Probable tends to be a much narrower category than possible, and thus calls for a higher standard of justification.
I take my meaningless entertainment conversation seriously.
Sort of. It doesn’t mean much, if anything, but it’s still entertaining and sometimes enlightening to say. You said there’s the possibility they’d be less attracted to us than we are to them. I said there’s the possibility they would be.
What have we learned or accomplished? Absolutely nothing. Was it pointless to say? Yes. Was it still entertaining? Yes. It’s just fun to talk about this stuff sometimes.
Of course there’s also the possibility they’d be utterly repulsed by us, the possibility they’d want to eat us, the possibility they’d see us as Gods, the possibility they’d be attracted sexually to us, the list goes on and on to infinity.
Your point in bringing up a possibility was that it’s not really a worthwhile thing to bring up?
Which was kind of my point. Not like we’ll ever know, anyways.
That I can make out about as much point from your post as could be made from what I said, on its own.
That something is “a possibility” doesn’t really mean much. It describes a lot of things, including the plainly obvious, the irrelevently unlikely, and that which is so basically fantasy that possibility doesn’t really have any significance.
And there’s the possibility that someone will buy a lottery ticket, get mad at themselves because they’re trying to lay off the gambling, then say ‘okay, just this last one’, and win big. What’s your point?
Hey, it’s not like I argued for impossibility, and, considering they’re completely fictional, unspecified attributes are entirely a question of interpretation, this being an unspecified one.
Also, my point on cooler people being able to win in the personality department, that’s pretty buzzy. And everyone knows what a big deal hands are, functionally.
Considering they’re completely fictional, you could be less of a complete buzzkill, y’know?
I like to think the same way.
And there’s a possibility that someone will buy a lottery ticket, get mad at themselves because they’re trying to lay off the gambling, hand it to me because I’m the first person they come across and have it turn out to be a winning ticket?
Therein lies the possibility, though, that humans are maximally adorable to ponies.
Think about it. They may find our manner of walking upright as we find their little trot, our expressive hand gestures as cute as their expressive ears, our soft skin as pleasing to touch as their soft coats, the list goes on and on.
Which still leaves a few exceptions of course.
Though, from what we’ve seen, ponies not cool enough to be part of the main cast are about as likely as not to be random jerks at any given moment, so it’s plausible that a significant portion of humans could win out in the personality department.
Remember, they only air bad news because good news doesn’t generate as much audience.
You know what, you’re probably right. They wouldn’t be able to resist ear scratches and belly rubs.
I’m sorry I wrote those depressing comments earlier. Ignore them. Watching too much news makes you depressed.
That seems out of line with how ponies act…
Good. Don’t be like me.
I’m more optimistic then I guess. :)
Just my general cynicism. Ponies wouldn’t even look at us. The changelings might, if they’re hungry.
>the real deal would probably stay far away from humans.
Why do You think that?
