I think this would be equally funny if it were Sunset Shimmer or Nightmare Moon. Has to be an enemy with an ideological difference, so not Chrysalis (“you are food” is not an ideology).
 
That being said, everything is funnier when Discord gets beaten up, because of incongruity. He’s the most powerful character in MLP (when he isn’t getting his powers stolen, anyway), so the sheer wtf factor of him being a victim of anything makes jokes like this much funnier. (It wouldn’t be nearly as funny with Tirek because we know that when Tirek isn’t full up on stolen power, he’s a weak little monkey, so seeing him taken captive and tormented wouldn’t be incongruous.)

Well, considering that Twilight Sparkle was searching her library for “reform” spells to use on Discord, this isn’t that far removed from canon.

I know it’s satire, but damn it, Fluttershy would do something. Use that stare!
