I agree with you 100% on that actually. I’m all for DMR’s over pure assault weapons any day. I have one good reason for not putting one here (other than just liking to draw the M4A1): It would have made this pic a good ~600 pixels longer haha! I wanted to try and retain a good pony-to-gun ratio considering I sized her to be younger in this image. (Based on the whole Celestia/Luna size/age relationship.)
 
It’s funny; all of this kind of thinking happens subconsciously when you’re drawing. You don’t realize exactly how much thought goes into a piece until you start talking about it!

Personally I prefer my M1A. I don’t mind the weight and size of it because it’s very easy to clean and very accurate. Plus it’s fun too shoot. Softest shooting .308 ever.

Who needs flight when you have Gun?
 
Gun is undoubtedly the strongest spell in Equestrian history.

It’s still a nightmare to clean and unreliable when fouled up. Nothing will ever change that.

I have to side with nadvgia on this one! it may be a small bullet but its velocity in conjunction with the tumble inherent with the 5.56 caliber it has more stopping power than you’d think! (i granted it’s still no 7.62 but the M4A1 is much better looking than all the guns in that caliber/size class that I can think of lol)

More like a terrible choice. Cleaning that thing’s foul gas block and tube is nasty. So much carbon build-up. And the weak round isn’t anything to talk about either.
 
Of course, she does have magic, so I’m sure it helps her.

I went back and forth a lot on adding her wings/tail but this just looked better (or at least cleaner.) Nothing to get in the way either ;)

No wings, no tail, but I’d still love her.
