This would be (would have been?)_ a great episode.
plot:
Spike is caught by an overly motherly female dragon while wandering near Ponyville. His friends must force the dragon to give him back. But does he WANT to live instead of a chance at enjoying a mother’s affection? Or will he get fed up with being treated like a baby?
(spoilers: He will. The entire episode is a synonym for teenage rebelliousness and the need for it.)
Oh yeah like that could have a positive outcome with zero consequences.
My apologies, I was half asleep when I wrote that last area of comments 18 days ago, so I was only thinking one way and not giving the other any thought. You got me beat with your hypothesis. I stand corrected.
Alicorns, as far as we know, are immortal.
Alicorns are not “as far as we know” immortal. That has never, ever been stated or mentioned at all. All we know, is Luna and Celestia have lived over a 1000 years. How much more than that can they live exactly, we don’t know. We don’t even know if that applies to all Alicorns. Anything other than this is the fandom finding it “amusing” to believe they’re some kind of gods (despite Faust once claiming they’re not) and giving them immortality. When the show or comics have never done so. So its not a “fact” at all.
Celestia hasn’t aged a day since we saw her appearance 1000 years in the past in the battle with her sister in season 4’s premiere.
Which happened 1000 years ago. Several mythological creatures are able to live more than that easily (dragons for example), and just like them, that simply means once they reach their prime they can stay on it for most of their lives. Again, dragons are the same. “Elder” dragons are not called that because they’re tired and weak. Its the opposite. They have that name because they’ve lived a long time, but are still on their physical prime and that doesn’t ever change. The more a dragon ages, the stronger it gets.
Celestia and Luna could be the same, staying on their “adult” state during their whole lifespan. That doesn’t mean that lifespan is eternal though. Again, that’s just fanon.
For that matter, the Princesses themselves could be 20,000 maybe even 50,000 years old
Or the dragoness could be 20,000 or maybe even 50,000 years old. And the princesses only about 2,000-5,000. Why are you assuming its a fact that its one way and not the other way around? In most media, Dragons are well-known for their longevity and occasional immortality, while Alicorns are rarely (if ever) adressed in myths/tales/media, so they don’t have that backup. And since this show has never really given them immortality, its pretty biased to assume they are, or even longer-lived than dragons.
Point is, I say it is a pretty good chance that Spike’s mother here is younger then the Princesses
Actually, there’s evern bigger chances of Spike’s mother being older.
Again, in most media Dragons are well known for always having either ridiculous lifespans on the 100,000 year range (Warcraft), or downright immortality (Elder Scrolls). While Alicorns hardly ever appear in media, and the one time (probably) they do, they’re so far only confirmed to have longevity on the 1,000-2,000 range. Nothing else. Why are there “more chances” the princesses are older then?
since dragons aren’t usually seen as immortal
They’re sometimes seen as immortal and sometimes as extremely long-lived.
Either way, they’ve been portrayed as immortal more times than Alicorns have, since Alicorns have NEVER been portrayed as immortal. So its : “A few times” VS “never”.
Why do Alicorns have more chances then?
since you have so many stories about dragon slayers. Just saying
You’re confusing being ageless with being unable to die. They’re different types of immortality. Elder Scrolls dragons for example, are ageless but can be killed (even if its only temporarily unless the dragonborn does it). What you’re implying here then, is you think Alicorns can’t be killed either? That’s a lot of assumptions there.
k
I still say she younger then the Princesses until the artist says otherwise.
Depends on how she aged.
So, are you saying that Spike’s mother might be older then them.
“Alicorns age differently.”
Directly from the Journal of the Two Sisters.
Also, they were born right after the Three Tribes.
Okay, I can see where you are coming from, but Alicorns, as far as we know, are immortal. Celestia hasn’t aged a day since we saw her appearance 1000 years in the past in the battle with her sister in season 4’s premiere. For that matter, the Princesses themselves could be 20,000 maybe even 50,000 years old, and I know that’s stretching a bit far. Point is, I say it is a pretty good chance that Spike’s mother here is younger then the Princesses, since dragons aren’t usually seen as immortal, since you have so many stories about dragon slayers. Just saying
this needs to be written as a fic
Proof?
Because for all we know, that dragon lady could easily be way older than Luna.
We know the sisters are over 1,000 years old, but that’s it. They could be about 1,500 while dragon lifespan greatly varies whenever its adressed in different media, so dragon Lady here could easily be over 10,000 years old.
That would be odd to have someone who is 500 years younger then you at most become your mother-in-law.
‘My baby is NOT going up the altar to you two CRAZIES!’
‘Our sister demands the nuptials commence! Release the groom!’
‘Amazing how finding out my baby’s super rich changes everything now.’
‘Do not test us, Would-Be-Mother-In-Law!’
‘You don’t DESERVE to call me MOTHER-IN-LAW. You can barely COOK!’
‘We can TOO cook!’
‘Don’t I get a say in…’
‘NO!’
@SpikeSpiegel
Yes. Someone must make this happen.
Someone needs to write this fic. Lunaspike sounds hillariously awesome
Right, that’s something Twilight would do to get Spike Back.
If she wanted to destroy the world.
