@Background Pony #8917
That would be cool, or one of his “Sonic Adventure” themes. Would be cool if they ended the end credits (after showing a few soundtrack songs) with this brief 18-second little ditty. (Or with the original Genesis version for nostalgia.)
@Beau Skunky
Spax… Now that name brings back memories…
He had a lot of issues, his intense hatred of Jason Griffith being one of them. I remember it all started when he e-mailed Jason about his feelings towards voicing Sonic, to which he responded by saying that he doesn’t really care for the part.
Thus began a butthurt that Spax never really recovered from.
In Jason’s defense, about a couple of months after Shadow the Hedgehog was released (and before the Spax incident), he said in an interview that if he could give the role of Sonic back to Ryan, he would. By the time Spax contacted him, Jason had probably already gotten a TON of shit from angry Sonic fans (and anti-4Kids people) so he was most likely jaded.
I also remember him ruining a perfectly good Turtles in Time playthrough on YouTube, because he kept screaming during the Skype chat, or whatever they were using. Either way, you could tell that everyone else was trying their best to be patient with him.
@BK_Leonidas
Yeah, while Sonic’06 wasn’t exactly a “great” game, Spax was a bit crazy from what I heard… He wasn’t as bad as Richard Kuta, or Nicochi though. (The guys who started the “anti-green eyes” crap.)
@SemiJuggao
And less we forget Spax3 who sparked that year long flame war with his Sonic ‘06 review and not only helped push the DMCA system on Youtube, he proved how broken it was and still is by instilling false claims on people’s videos if they said anything negative about him.
@SemiJuggao
They did that, because they wanted the characters to have “universal” voices. Sega considers “Sonic X” a different canon.
Yeah, I remember that thing with Ryan, I don’t blame fans for thinking that’s rude, and such.
As for me, I prefered some of the SA voices, but some of the SX voices weren’t bad either. (In fact, they replaced the SX voices again, except Eggman.) I used to bash the SX voices, but I feel a li’l bad about that now, sense admittedly not all the voices were that bad. (In fact, I prefer Amy’s old voices over her current Minnie Mouse-like one.)
Also, I think another reason they replaced them, was because Eggman’s old SA voice actor passed away.
@Beau Skunky
Someone should have told that to Sega, before they unceremoniously fired their Sonic voice actors and replaced them with the 4Kids voice cast.
Seriously, Sega of America wanted to have consistency between the games and Sonic X, but the worst thing about it was that they didn’t even have the common courtesy to notify them first! According to an interview with former Sonic voice actor, Ryan Drummond, he actually called Sega, asking when they wanted him to come in to do the English dubbing for Shadow the Hedgehog, but they told him not to bother because he was replaced…
…And so the Sonic fandom was split into more sub-factions: The pro-4Kids Sonic fans and the pro-original cast Sonic fans!
@Zennistrad
Yeah, they’re from different canons, but still “official” canons regardless. Alot of fans seem to mistake “Sonic X” anime canon as the same canon as the games for some reason. (Dispite the different backstories, and new characters in it.)
@SRD639
Yeah, say what you want about Sonic, but he’s no pushover.
But of course, he’s normally pretty laid-back, and such, so while not “pure-hearted,” he’s not really “dark-hearted” either.
(Depending on what version of him, as his personality is a li’l different in the different canons. As I said STC Sonic was kinda a prick. Pun-intended. lol)
@Beau Skunky
Fleetway Super Sonic was a corrupted/demon version of Super Sonic from what I’ve known. That was when Sonic had no control over his Super form.
Sega has gotten a bit out of hand with the inner monsters within Sonic that were corruptions or Dark sided transformations. I don’t know how he’s still able to be a pure hearted hero when he’s gone through these forms.
Fleetway Super Sonic - Insanity
Dark Super Sonic - Anger
Darkspine Sonic - Fury
Shit like this happens whens Sonic is pushed through the limit. This is why you shouldn’t attempt to kill or even hurt Sonic’s best friends when he’s around. Am I right?
@Darth Sonic
Nothing, just saying I don’t want the movie as dark as it is. (The British Fleetway/STC or “Sonic The Comic” series is usually considered the darkest Sonic canon.)
I’d prefer it to be just SatA.M., Archie, or Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 “dark.” Which are “dark, but not to dark.”
Admittedly, I wasn’t a big fan of Fleetway STC, (I prefer the Archie series, no offense) I also felt Sonic was a li’l to mean in it at times. (Especially to Tails, and Amy.) No offense meant to anybody who likes it, just not my type of Sonic personally…
(Also, wasn’t big on the “Super Sonic” being some kind evil “Jekyll & Hyde” type of transformation concept.)
@SRD639
Some of those hidden images in “Sonic CD” were kinda nightmare fuel. Even the “Batman”-esc Sonic was kinda creepy.
Also, it’s debatable if Tails “died” in that ending, (which shows an image of Tails in the night sky, which lead people to believe that) considering the good ending shows an image of both Sonic & Tails in the night sky, and they both were alive in that ending obviously.
But yeah, the old games still had shades of dark/edgy material mixed in with the light/cute aspects. Just the concept of Eggman using animals to power his robots is kinda dark/cruel when you think about it.
@Shadow_the_Hedgehog
I liked “Sonic 3D Blast,” (my only gripe with it is, it could use a save feature, though Virtual Console has that) but if you’re refering to “Sonic Blast,” (the Game Gear one) I admit that one was mediocre. (And quite sluggish compared to other 2D Sonic games.)
@SRD639
It was, but I hear it wasn’t as good as Mario Party. Hudson Soft apparently went out of business sadly, and had to be bought by Konami. That’s why they don’t make the Mario Party games anymore.
@Shadow_the_Hedgehog
Sonic Shuffle surprisingly was made by the same people who did the Mario Party series. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard before. I’m not sure if it’s true or not.
@SRD639
What I see is that people only think that Sonic06 was the only worst game. There was a game called Sonic Blast, that was a piece of crap too, and other game that was an imitation of Mario Party.
@Commissar Elusive
It was only funny the first few times. But the next 50 god damn times that joke is mentioned just makes it bland and not funny anymore.
Btw Sonic had that Dark & Edgy feel in the classic sonic games too just as well as SATAM. Shadow shouldn’t be the one thing to come to mind when those 2 story elements are mentioned when it revolves around Sonic.
Do you all remember “Fun is Infinite” from Sonic CD along with the spine-chilling boss music from the U.S. ver?
Do you all remember getting the bad ending in Sonic 2 (GG/MS) and finding out that Tails died?
Do you all remember that Sonic 2’s Chemical Plant zone was previously named Genocide City zone?
@Zennistrad
We still don’t know anything about the movie, and such. Or even have official confirmation that a Sonic movie is in the works. So chill…
It says “reportedly working on.”
“Dark & edgy” doesn’t automatically mean “Batman dark, & edgy.” I don’t know how many times I have to keep trying to explain that in these comments, or why I even bother.
Also, noticed you complaining about not wanting TMNT to be dark/serious either. >>586406 No offense, but do you just hate it when any old series is being serious/dark, or can’t take something seriously when it has to do with animal characters, or something?
That would be cool, or one of his “Sonic Adventure” themes. Would be cool if they ended the end credits (after showing a few soundtrack songs) with this brief 18-second little ditty. (Or with the original Genesis version for nostalgia.)
Ah yes, I remember Spax. It’s a shame that he got so batshit crazy about Sonic, his game reviews really were entertaining.

Dark Super Sonic and Fleetway Super Sonic aren’t canon in any of the games, though.
Yeah, say what you want about Sonic, but he’s no pushover.

The fucks wrong with fleetway?
All the more reason to bring that gem up.

Just look at the graphics. With a bettet experience turn off the lights.
Sonic Shuffle surprisingly was made by the same people who did the Mario Party series. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard before. I’m not sure if it’s true or not.
Sonic Shuffle…
I’ve never played it, personally.
What I see is that people only think that Sonic06 was the only worst game. There was a game called Sonic Blast, that was a piece of crap too, and other game that was an imitation of Mario Party.

No, that’s different, that was actually done well.
