Ironically, bronies were expecting Spike to act like Rarity with the personal shrine along with a hair piece!!! Spike never took it that far. Hell I bet most expected him to be all manic depressive, which shows the writers are bad with his character and the most of us bronies are oblivious to it for some reason.
But… don’t they DARE make him oblivious to Rarity’s crush!
May the “oblivious bumbling idiot-Spike” from Spike at Your Service forever rest in “peace”

It’s almost like, you know, he doesn’t have a simple personality but rather a bunch of conflicting views and feelings.
Not to mention that they seem quite incapable of defining his personality. Sometimes he is snarky, intelligent and quite savvy. Other times he is cowardly, incompetent and immature.
I dont know, not even the CMC are like this.
It would be nice if they gave Spike another female interest, but even simple character development and Spike seems like an impossible task for the writers.
Ahh, now i remember how the crush managed to help in saving Rarity in the Nightmare Rarity comic.
Yeah well, no. The crush has always been one sided, and Rarity has mostly ignored it until said episode. Its just… out of place.
The crush is pretty important to both of their characters, but especially Spike’s.

But why have a crush on the first place? I understand the crush was never an important plot device in any episode, except (and it was like a 10% of the episode) The Secret of my Excess.
They are just… going to throw it out of the window just like that? Sounds like a big storyboard error/plothole in the making. That cant be right, not with the level of quality this writers have (except merry).
Damage control, pure and simple. But we’ll see.
There’s been no “crush” moments for Spike this season, and if there’s none by the end of this episode I think there’s enough evidence to say that the staff has thrown it in the garbage.
Finally! Someone that noticed!
No point in arguing about it now when we can argue about it after the episode.
After months of working for her, giving her things, and having an obvious crush on her, for us to still be at the phase where she’d do something like this right in front of him shows that shows no character development and is horrible of her… if he still has a crush on her.
If.
McCarthy has gone out of her way to post Tweets redacting anything that suggested a crush, calling them “two pals”. My guess is that they want to be done with anything that suggests feelings here. There’s been no “crush” moments for Spike this season, and if there’s none by the end of this episode I think there’s enough evidence to say that the staff has thrown it in the garbage.
Like I said, we can argue about it after the episode. I’m sure that the Spike Haters will have posted plenty of memes and images pronouncing the “Death of Sparity” where we can have a polite discussion. Have a good Friday.
Look at how over the top she is. Spike isn’t stupid, he can tell that this barely is anything.
It’s continually hilarious how Spike and Rarity have essentially the same kind of personality.
We’ll have to wait until after the episode to know for sure. Right now though, I can’t help but think that it’s terrible of her to go on about her crush in front of Spike since she knows about how he feels about her, even if she doesn’t feel the same. I can’t imagine him being okay with that. Jealousy is one of his character traits after all. It all screams “bullshit” to me, like most of what they’ve done with him over the last two seasons.
You know, I don’t think he made a big deal about Rarity gushing over Blueblood to his face back in season one. If this was intentionally a call back to that, thumbs up.
I think he can tell this kind of shit won’t turn out well and is just smug about it instead of being worried like everyone else.
The twist of the episode is that he believed Applejack was a stallion the entire time. Big, brawny tough work horses are his fetish.
