I think another reason people like Atryl is because there’s just something amazing about his art that attracts non-anthro’s. Like I remember when he started posting his earlier work, a lot of people who weren’t into anthro made his art an exception. I know I did.

@Zombie: From what you mentioned, its mostly stylistic preferences you don’t like, which is fine.
 
Also, the recent BP comment is right: Atryl ahs done some fantastic fantasy art. The guy ahs range and variety with his artwork, and is always ready to experiment.

Personally, his work is remarkably good even discounting the speed it is being done, and most of the things I personally dislike are essentially “I like vertical lines rather than horizontal ones” kind of things. His non-pony work is truly impressive and I would love the idea of him working professionally on some studio.
 
Case point, I normally don’t fawn over his explicit work, but damn it, this one isn’t perfect but immediately made me want to make this mini-rant.

Yeah, his speed is impressive, but that still doesn’t really make me view his work as incredible. I guess after seeing 500+ pictures, it just all feels the same.

Consider that he did this piece in 30 mintues.
 
And while its true that some of his stylistic choices are up to personal preference he does have a good eye for colour, effects, texture and so on. He’s a very accomplished artist, which is the reason why he gets notice. Just the fact that can render within such a quick period of time is what amazes a lot of people.

I honestly don’t usually find Atryl’s work that great. I’m not a fan of how he draws faces and the fingers. He’s not bad, but I still don’t see what’s special about his stuff.
