I see this episode. Somehow, magic effect Spike. And from him comes a copy. His darker half. More monstrous; such as being aggressive and murderous, rampaging and destroying for sport. Godzilla style.. but with the same roar many use for Kuwagamon on Digimon 01 and the Velociraptors on The Legend of Tarzan which fit aggressive monsters.,
It be funny if the pony reporters did their usual reporting on the wrong timing, and accidentally tick him., And if Posey tick him.
And it be a fusion of action and comical scenes iof Spike fought Dark Spike. Similar to the Godzilla movies. Maybe starting with the boxing bell and ‘fight’ from games. And some slapstick just as when Giant Bender fought Giant Zoidberg on the Futurama episode. And some from Po’s comical fight with Tai Lung on Kung Fu Panda 1. Something with Spike’s jolliness contrasting the dark one’s aggression and conceit.

Spike’s dark side would be as a bitter, angry old dragon who lost faith in magic after losing Twilight.

Now that I think of it: Upon looking at my response to the background pony’s comment again…
If that’s actually what the background pony meant, then this kind of interpretation can potentially explain why Misty is immune to Opaline’s “opposite minds” necklace (unlike the other five): According to those two dictionary searches, dauntlessness and heart can work hand-in-hand) and from what I can tell don’t exactly conflict with each other.

It be more monstorus if Spike as his grownup self got his dark side shown. His opposite; being aggressive and murderous instead of jolly and nice. I can see him going Godzilla, only with a roar similar to Kuwagamon on Digimon 01 and the Velociratpors on The legend of Tarzan.
