If that's actually what the background pony meant, then this kind of interpretation can potentially explain why Misty is immune to Opaline's "opposite minds" necklace (unlike the other five): According to those two dictionary searches, dauntlessness and heart can work hand-in-hand) and from what I can tell don't exactly conflict with each other.
