Look, I get it, but you are forgetting that:
  1. They got purchased by Modus
    And
  2. Covid happened, basically resulting in delays
I don’t understand why you are so negative, let alone the fact that you forgot what @Shadowking58, @Dogman15, @Dogman15 and @Phoenixflambe said each:
@Background Pony #D1EE
They said that ranked mode isn’t something that they can feasibly do when they have a small playerbase compared to AAA fighting games.
Whether or not the fighting game is fun is actually up to personal opinion, but you can’t deny that the aesthetic of the game (unfortunately) turns off many people from playing it, as unfortunate as it is, because I am in the camp of this game is really fun, has a lot of features fighting game players want, and that more people should play it. But with the aesthetic turning people off, and the fact that they’re a small team working on a niche game in an already niche genre (compared to the rest of gaming) it makes sense that their player base is quite small.
Also, they are not ADDING 4 new characters before story mode chapter 2 is completed. If you looked at the roadmap you’d see that 2 characters are coming out this year and the other 2 are coming out next year, there’s no way they wouldn’t release ALL 4 OF those characters before even ONE new chapter of story mode was added.
Also, there’s going to be cross platform matchmaking between all consoles and PC, as well as including skill-based matchmaking, so the player pool will be severely increased, and the players will be matched with players of their skill level (if the system is working correctly), so it should work out well. Also, all games no matter what genre they are have a decrease in playerbase after the initial launch hype, that goes for any genre. But crossplay will definitely have a net positive, for sure.
@Background Pony #D1EE
They are giving us both of those things. I also believe them when they say that console ports took up a lot of resources, like it or not, console ports don’t just magically poof into existence, it takes work, and people have been asking for console ports, as I’ve said.
@Background Pony #D1EE
You wanna know what the most important thing is to fighting game players? More characters to play as, and console ports. Story mode isn’t really a priority for those people that are mostly interested in fighting against other players. As for me, I’m interested in the story mode but I am also interested in the competitive aspect, so you could say I am a mix between the two types of players. That’s why I understand why most people in the community (the TFH discord, etc) were asking for more characters, and for console ports. Hopefully more casual players will get their wish too and get future story mode chapters, because I know how it feels. I wanna play more of story mode too!
@Background Pony #D1EE
are you referring to fighting game players? because I’ve seen Mane6 cater quite heavily towards the competitive crowd lately, what with Combo Breaker and other things like that.
And yes it is true that story mode was part of the funding, and I definitely think it’s going to be delivered on, eventually. There’s just a lot of different crowds that they’re trying to please all at once. I don’t really mind that much because I like playing competitively, so I have a different pool of huge content that keeps me busy until the next chapter comes out.
@Background Pony #F3D2
The games were a lot more simpler back in the day. Technology changes and evolves, we need to learn and understand them, it is not easy to learn and understand first try. And finally, in this age, all the devs are newbies and will need 5 years of experience or even longer to get better. While the old guys want to retire in peace.
@Background Pony #D1EE
Console ports were something a lot of people were asking for, because they didn’t have a PC good enough to run the game, and there’s a huge market of people on console who don’t play on PC who would want to play this game too, so I get why they were asking for it.
More characters past Shanty were also asked for, simply because 7 characters is a rather small number for a fighting game roster. (The Original Street Fighter 2 launched with 7 characters, but that was all the way back in 1991.) and more archetypes to add to the game.
And another thing, the Linux and Mac ports of TFH were something that was also promised as part of the crowdfund, and they have delivered on both those things. I definitely think Modus funding is going to speed up these future chapter releases, but simply, even if they have a publisher like Modus behind them, making console versions still took them a lot more work than they anticipated.
I’m happy for consoles because I’ll get more people to play the game with.
@Background Pony #D1EE
Not all of that stuff can be done as fast as you seem to think it can.
And yes, I had to use a lot of quotes.
@Background Pony #D1EE
Doesn’t matter, they’re also superfans on derpi, and you should know that. I know that, but I was talking about the fact that you are stubborn to the facts that I, as well as @Dogman15, @Phoenixflambe and @Shadowking58 have been saying.
Background Pony #F3D2
@Phoenixflambe
The size of the team doesn’t matter. Their fans are as rabid.
There is next to no difference between your average CoD superfan and someone like you.
Background Pony #F3D2
Reading the comments I now understand how is it possible stuff like Diablo Immoral, yearly Call of Duty repack and terrible Battlefield downgrades keep being released and people still buy them.
Developers these days could, quite literally, just deliver a bag of poop to someone’s doorway and still get fans that will die on every hill possible to defend them.
It used to be that companies had to deliver a high quality product on day 1, finished. Now? Why bother. You will have armies of people online defending you no matter whether you try or not.

i get it, but again. i simply dont like the timing of their plans here. theyre doing console ports? great. theyre adding 4 new characters? thats amazing. however, they really should have gotten story mode done first. this was a crowdfund promise. this should be taken care of before doing things that weren’t even part of the initial plans. i have a few friends who were drawn to the game once 1.0 came out. why? because of story mode. what are they doing now? not playing the game because nothing has really enticed them to play it anymore besides shanty and the holiday events, and even then they only played the game for a few hours before going back to being uninterested in it. im not saying this stuff will be done quickly, i get that it takes time. if they weren’t so focused on other shit, we probably would’ve gotten level 3 supers and chapter 2 by now. i dont care if it takes years for them to just do console ports. think of it like this, tfh finally gets introduced to new audiences with 6 chapters (at least) of story mode to play, 11 different characters to play, 14 stages to choose from, and more maps on pixel lobbies to explore and interact on. instead of just waiting for the game to get content updates and wait until they have a reason to buy it, they could just get the nearly complete package right there at launch. this console launch will be the first impressions of tfh to a lot of people. you dont want them to simply pass on it and then forget about it later.
@Background Pony #CCFA
i get that not everyone will agree with me. ive been trying not to be rude and i apologize if i came off as such, im simply just frustrated with the state of the game. lets end it here.
Background Pony #CCFA
@Background Pony #D1EE
Since it seems you stopped replying, I’m gonna end this conversation here with advice.
  1. Try to realize that not everyone is gonna agree with you, superfan or not.
  2. And remember that people don’t share the same view as you.
  3. Learn to respect their opinions, and don’t try to be rude.
Again, I understand that you have freedom of speech here, but these points are what you need to consider.
And that’s all. We’re done with this convo.

derpi’s a more open space for opinions on tfh. nobody wants to go to an indie devs twitter page and voice whatever negative opinions they have, especially when the only ones interacting with that twitter account are super fans of the game. btw, i never said you were in denial.
Background Pony #D1EE
@Background Pony #CCFA
i havent been disrespectful to anyone here. all i did was voice my negative opinion of mane6’s plans for tfh. also, i’m speaking about tfh and mane6. not fanart.
Background Pony #D1EE
@Background Pony #CCFA
report it for what? not being super pleased, happy, and excited with mane6’s decisions?
@Phoenixflambe
thats literally not what i said. if they managed their time and resources differently, we would have had chapter 2 already. and chapter 3 would almost be completed around this time. and im saying that they should have gotten everything done before even considering console ports. obviously thats not possible now, since theyre not going to change their decision.
Background Pony #D1EE
@Dogman15
im not saying it should be done fast. im saying it should all be done before even doing the console ports. however, chapter 2 shouldve been out already with chapter 3 being on the horizon.
