wouldnt it be better to launch the game on consoles as a completed package with a lot of content? they could make a lot of sales off of the console hype and even more if they would just have the game in a completed state. completed story mode, more characters, more online play options, and more stuff to do when not doing online. it would just be better to launch the game with those on consoles rather than the way it is right now. when it first gets launched people will see it as barebones, pass on it, move on, and forget about it. and again, story mode was part of the crowdfund. crowdfund promises should take priority over these wild dreams that the devs are having.

Console ports were something a lot of people were asking for, because they didn’t have a PC good enough to run the game, and there’s a huge market of people on console who don’t play on PC who would want to play this game too, so I get why they were asking for it.
More characters past Shanty were also asked for, simply because 7 characters is a rather small number for a fighting game roster. (The Original Street Fighter 2 launched with 7 characters, but that was all the way back in 1991.) and more archetypes to add to the game.
And another thing, the Linux and Mac ports of TFH were something that was also promised as part of the crowdfund, and they have delivered on both those things. I definitely think Modus funding is going to speed up these future chapter releases, but simply, even if they have a publisher like Modus behind them, making console versions still took them a lot more work than they anticipated.
I’m happy for consoles because I’ll get more people to play the game with.
@Shadowking58
of course they wouldn’t outright say it, but c’mon. it’s obvious that they do not care about story mode as much as say, something that wasn’t even part of their original plans? story mode was part of the kickstarter. these 4 dlc characters weren’t. just shanty. and hell, neither were these console ports they’re planning on. if they cared so much about their fans and backers, why are they prioritizing these instead of things they promised to the people who funded them 7 years ago?
@Background Pony #D1EE
Whether or not you decide to believe me when I say this is not my problem, but I can tell with 100% certainty that if they went “okay we’re cancelling story mode and only developing new DLC characters from now on” you bet your ass I would call them out on it.
@Dogman15
i think people like you would find a reason or excuse to defend them no matter what they do. i bet you would STILL be supporting and defending them if they went directly against their own kickstarter promises. if you don’t already count not delivering on story mode as going against the kickstarter promises

The games were a lot more simpler back in the day. Technology changes and evolves, we need to learn and understand them, it is not easy to learn and understand first try. And finally, in this age, all the devs are newbies and will need 5 years of experience or even longer to get better. While the old guys want to retire in peace.
@Phoenixflambe
im not saying it is. they need to manage themselves better and change their content release plans. their timing of this dlc is fucking terrible.
@Background Pony #D1EE
are you referring to fighting game players? because I’ve seen Mane6 cater quite heavily towards the competitive crowd lately, what with Combo Breaker and other things like that.
And yes it is true that story mode was part of the funding, and I definitely think it’s going to be delivered on, eventually. There’s just a lot of different crowds that they’re trying to please all at once. I don’t really mind that much because I like playing competitively, so I have a different pool of huge content that keeps me busy until the next chapter comes out.
@Background Pony #D1EE
You wanna know what the most important thing is to fighting game players? More characters to play as, and console ports. Story mode isn’t really a priority for those people that are mostly interested in fighting against other players. As for me, I’m interested in the story mode but I am also interested in the competitive aspect, so you could say I am a mix between the two types of players. That’s why I understand why most people in the community (the TFH discord, etc) were asking for more characters, and for console ports. Hopefully more casual players will get their wish too and get future story mode chapters, because I know how it feels. I wanna play more of story mode too!
@Background Pony #D1EE
I know because there was a developer update a while ago that said that Velvet’s chapter would be released before any new DLC characters come out. Shanty was promised as part of the initial crowdfund of the game back in 2015, so they had a legit reason to release her as a DLC character, plus everyone who backed the crowdfund got a key for her when she came out.
@Dogman15
This is what I said too, it will increase the player pool significantly
@Background Pony #D1EE
Put another way, before they can add a ranked mode, they need to increase the player count, and releasing on consoles and implementing cross-play with PC will definitely increase the player count.
