I understand it has, but I’ve elected to ignore it
It literally went into the show they literally say it
“Death of the author” is a thing

Same. Twilight was a good “Mom” Spike’s very personality is proof of that
I disagree.
Not that unique. She’s his big sis who he lives with and works for. Of course they love each other and look out for one another when they can but its been fleshed out pretty well by this point. Not like the early seasons where they were more up in the air.
Honestly, its good the show went for the sibling route. What a terrible mom twilight would have been. Especially seeing as she was just a little kid herself.
The series decided in S9.
Honestly, that could fit well with a lot of cannon, though with the only issue though being Spike’s as being part of Twilight’s biological family as a brother in Sparkle’s Seven.
@northern haste
Indeed. I suppose the question is, when two episodes conflict, what should be viewed as canon? I have been trying to figure out a framework for the longest time though honestly I really don’t care too strongly what people believe myself.

They asked what cathy wanted for spike for episode 200. And siblings was the result.
I think I’ve seen at least one interpretation of Celestia attempting to raise Spike herself, but winding up needing Twilight’s help until she was old enough to do it herself because he’d bonded to her during the hatching.
The series couldn’t decide that and I am split myself. Honestly I am pretty drawn to Faust’s original intention for Celestia as something as a mother figure for Spike. The series went in every which way and seeing Twilight as a mother figure to Spike was something that I thought was a interesting concept. Perhaps Twilight is a sister-mom!
