My thought as well.
Drift-controversy, and high price aside, I think the JoyCons are pretty cool controllers.
plus they come with the console so… they’re always on hoof.
Because not everybody has those, or can carry them around everywhere with a Switch in portable mode.
That’s not the point. Why use those when you can use the clearly superior Pro and GameCube controllers?
Honestly, JoyCons work much better for SSB, then Wii-remotes. Especially, because they have more buttons, and don’t forget the game allows you to customize the controls. They’re honestly not that hard to use.
Unless you’re one of those people whom can’t pull off a directional “Smash attack” without a second control stick.

Well they kinda are as main villains of the series. But anyway, what would Celestia and Luna be?

Spitfire would be Fox McCloud.
Sombra would be Ganon, Crysilis as Bayonetta and Tirek as either Bowser or Ridley to emphasise his size.

I think Isabelle is a great choice for Derpy.
Princess Peach for Cadance.
For Derpy, either Isabelle, (cute ditzy pony girl + cute ditzy doggie girl) or maybe an unexpected unfitting character like Ganon.
Very fitting. Shining Armor’s mains will be Chrom, I think.
I see Celestia more as Palutena.
