Just some food for thought. Perhaps we outta give it a chance. After all, if we go into it firmly believing it will be bad, we will always perceive it as such.
It’s very possible, you’re just a near-sighted Neanderthal.
THIS atrocity, on the other hand … all available evidence says EG is nothing more than some highschool drama show using MLP as a ratings springboard. Unless/until something changes radically with regards to the design and concept, it’s not possible for EG to be anything but dumpster fodder.
One of features of the show was to simulate situations that can happen in human world in ponyverse.
I dunno, this really does not look promising.
Also, Pinkie’s face. Just look at it.
Good man.
We’ve seen many teen high school sitcom, it is an already competitive market, plus lot of these show ended up being unpopular or or unnoticed as they can hardly get they own identity among the mass. So instead of just letting this concept being forgotten or remain in fanfic, they decided to create a new show with almost the same idea as so many before, a teen groups hanging around at school, and put ponies in it hoping it will make it succed where so many failed.
We can argue about whether or not mlp at first sigh seem to be a good idea. But we have to admit that at least it is somehow original. The only competition for a magical world with cute creature is actually care bears, but the cares bears were hibernating between two of their generation when mlp started.
Not everyone went into FIM expecting to not like it. Because unlike with this spin-off there was no prior standard for it to meet, nothing for it to potentially ruin in any way.
been hooked ever since
and I agree, IF the spin-off is good, run with it, if it sucks, either kill it or change it to make it good
“The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.”
― Terry Pratchett
Y’know, this reminds me of when Transformers Animated caught similar flak based on nothing more than its artistic style from its previews and that turned out alright in the end.
OP’s right, let’s just wait and see how it goes, first.
It’d be like if DC started publishing books where everyone in the batman universe were dogs, going to dental college.
Which, admittedly, sounds pretty cool…
But, you know, wouldn’t be so bad, except now these things are officially part of MLP. I know probably not FiM’s canon, but still part of MLP. Fanart, videos, and news from this show are now (barring a ruling otherwise) eligible to be posted on Derpibooru.
You can say this show won’t affect the real one, but for me and a lot of others, fan works and the fandom in general are a big part of our enjoyment of MLP, and I’m uneasy about what this show will do to that dynamic.
Note: I’m not actually one of those that would say this show is the end of the fandom or anything, but I’m just saying I’m not looking forward to this based on my understanding of the premise.
