Artist’s description (originally posted September 2, 2016):

“So I haven’t drawn in a long long time ever since the start of my classes. So I got to do this during my short time during the weekends. Took me just about 10 hours to finish this work. 4 hours of it was making the right camouflage patter on the coat.”

Oh sheet, you’re right. I was so focused at the collar thingy that I entirely didn’t realize the dagger or the fact that this pony looked like an R63 of Aryanne but with a horn. I’m proper blind I swear >.>’.
But yeah, I think you’re perfectly right, he’s a Waffen-SS pony, apologies for assuming he was a Wehrmacht soldier by the collar patch alone. I feel dumb now lol.

Ah, good eye. Odds are though the artist didn’t have know that much detail about WWII uniforms, though.
This pony is also carrying a dagger, which again was pretty much only issued to the SS. Plus finally there is the fact that he appears to be a blonde haired blue eyed “Aryan” pony…again, more than likely SS.

I agree, the Waffen SS had the Erbsenmuster which was patented and pretty much designed for them while the Wehrmacht had the Splittertarnmuster which was more simple and geometric, but look at the collar on the uniform underneath the camouflage smock. It has what it looks like the litzen or collar patch characteristic of the Wehrmacht soldiers/enlisted; Waffen SS had collar tabs with the SS logo and the rank instead.

Wehrmacht

Waffen SS
Unless of course the artist already knew this and used the Wehrmacht litzen to not get his image downvote bombed, which is fine.
Although I think you may be right. Probably I’m too acquainted of determining if a soldier is from the Wehrmacht or Waffen SS by their collar patches >.>’
Why I’m looking at collar patches in WW2 uniform on ponies. I need help, serious medical and psychological help
