Each of those species didn’t have particularly positive relations with pones, or we only saw one or two of that species during…..uh, now that I think about it, which season would this be during? Glimmy and Trixie are friends in this universe, at least, but there’s never been a changeling in this comic.
Can we sit back an admire the random times that the background scenery in this comic is absolutely spectacular? Who is the background artist for these specific episodes? That courthouse is beautiful!
I think there is indeed an issue here that needs to be resolved.
Not only because of Spike, but because of every creature in Equestria that doesn’t have exactly “hoofs”, griffins, hippogriffs, minotaurs and dragons have hands or claws and they would be entirely excluded from being able to acquire a career that requires the use of “hoofs”
it would not be to move a few strings when it would be a common good
I mean, Twilight could put these problems on the table so they can be solved more quickly or so I think.
I blame the EEA, there’s enough creatures with hands/paws/claws living in Equestria that it’s hard to believe that something like this hasn’t come up before that could be be used as a legal precedent unless specieism got in the way.
That’s how a bureaucracy works. It assumes an “average” and plans everything around that, with maybe a few easily foreseeable outliers, and then it has to make patchwork and tape to handle all the rest of everything that comes up.
Given the discussion of “we need to wait for approval from above” from the previous comment, a “fair” thing to do is to either wait or see if you can move things up the chain. Otherwise it falls into that old adage of “who you know”.
Except Spike’s already getting negatively special treatment because the bureaucracy can’t handle extremities with more than one digit. Twilight greasing the wheels would be leveling the playing field, not giving him an unfair advantage.
@kleptomage
Especially if said application ends up being denied somehow.

But his is a special case…
