Then why use the splattered ink effect with “thump” (a word that absolutely carries the connotations of bludgeoning), in such a way it’s evocative of blood? Why did they decide to not show it, if what you said is the “obvious” implication, especially considering they’d shown it before?

Sometimes showing nothing is scarier.

I don’t know why everyone looked at this and assumed gory murder. It’s still a CHILDREN’S comic at the end of the day, for crying out loud. Obvious implication is that she did exactly what she and her underlings did to an entire community of these creatures earlier in the same issue: Fed on their love and left them covered in changeling slime.

Why bronies seem to NEED everything to be as needlessly grimdark as possible is one major reason I have never quite clicked with this fandom.

I just noticed… I think Scoots knew what was about to happen. She’s got that face of “Oh no. You’re gonna do it, aren’t you?”

Heck, they might be able to get away with a little bit more if they just moved to regular old Cartoon Network (since the former CEO who basically purged all girl shows and cancelled Young Justice for attracting a female audience is no longer in charge there, that could be a possibility if Discovery Family doesn’t keep the show after season 5, though I doubt even that would actually happen).

Stop, you’re never going to convince me, I am never going to look at Chrysalis as anything other than a villain.  
That’s what the show wants me to see her as, that’s the interpretation the show gives us, and the comics aren’t any better, and in fact, are worse.

Crushing other species is BRED INTO HER. She was probably RAISED on this mentality as all her other changelings accept it as well.
 
It’s JUST the same as an animal. And claiming an animal doesn’t think is stupid. Do you think that any of the obvious strategy, planning, and ambushing predators do all the time comes from a lack of thought? Yes instinct helps but even it can only do so much.

Here’s the difference between a lion and Chrysalis: a lion is not thinking.  
A lion does not understand the ramifications of his actions, or why what he’s doing is evil, all he sees is fun and food, that’s all he needs.  
Chrysalis, on the other hand, IS thinking, she does know that what she does causes suffering on other races, yet she has not made any attempt to peacefully coexist with them, in fact, she outright loves that she gets to crush them under her hoof, she KNOWS that she causes pain, and she loves it, that’s what makes her evil for me: her enjoyment of the situation.  
Just saying, the people who colonized America thought themselves as brave heroes, if you ask most of modern society, they’ll tell you a whole different story.

And zoologists aren’t supposed to kill anything without good purpose. We have many, many forms we have to fill out to convince oversight committees of these reasons.

Plenty of predators show obvious pleasure in the hunt and kill. Including lions who have been known to catch young from a herd and kill it slowly within view of the herd in question.

I highly doubt they see themselves as evil.
 
Long story short: Evil is all perspective.
 
We’re being fed a very specific perspective in the show and comic. I highly doubt the changelings or Chrysalis herself think she’s evil.
