I thought the joke was that Celestia gained weight over the thousand years she was gone because of all the cakes she eats. Luna just mistook the extra weight for a pregnancy. That doesn’t make nearly as much sense as what you said, though.

Took me a moment to get the joke. Seems Luna has never met Cadence before and assumes she is Celestia’s offspring.

To be honest, with the fact they only had two fur color variants in earlier seasons, and some even had both wings and horns, I had often wondered if all the Royal Guards were her immortal sons. and they’d all look the same age where one brother could be 20 years old, and the other brother 200 years old…………. That means Shining Armor would have been her favorite. That would be an explantion times 1000 for Celestia and the Sparkle parents to explain to Shining Armor and Twilight. And more fuel for Luna to use to feed the fire of her lecture.

This needs second panel in which Celestia answers something outrageous, like “oh, I don’t know exactly, the royal guards serve as my personal harem now…”

And… why is Celestia having kids a bad thing, anyway? maybe she wanted some company after a certain sister turned evil and tried to overthrow her…?

Cadance has a dinosaur mouth, that’s funny.

The issue with Cadance lies more with her pose IMHO: her right foreleg doesn’t rise before her mouth in this one and kinda blends against the coat of pink of her barrel, making it less visible.

I don’t mind Luna’s more angry expression instead of the deadpan in the original. It hints at how many times she must have been lectured about this only for the preacher to not practice.  
Cadence is another story. Her expression looks almost out of place as if it was meant for a family photo like >>1460916.

Indeed, though, it was stated on the deviantart post of this, if Cadence asked Celestia who her father was, and Celestia responded with “I don’t know”, Luna would be going off on a stampede, scolding Celestia of losing track of the names of her many lovers. XD
