  • Somehow knowing who the Mane 6 were - the only ponies he saw in his debut is (possibly) Twilight, and Spike/Cadence, as well as the crystal ponies. There’s a slim chance he looked at them on the balcony, but he was busy with trying to get the heart. Even if he did, he wouldn’t have gotten a good look at them  
  • Somehow knowing what Ponyville is and where it is  
  • Somehow knowing the Mane 6 is from Ponyville  
  • Not willing to directly kill the Mane 6 despite the normal Sombra would (Has been shown doing brutal things like that, such as slavery), which is a similar trait to Discord, who would’ve created the clone  
  • Not created from his horn which was sent flying after his death  
  • Shadow form vastly different from his actual/normal one he was already shown using  
  • Different voice  
  • Different personality than implied (more boastful/uses monologues whereas in his initial debut he was shown to not monologue and use very little words)  
  • Stood by when Discord made his speech  
  • No explanation to how he faked being destroyed by the Elements  
  • “Grogar” putting up no argument when Sombra said he would take over the Crystal Empire on his own

I like how the image was referring to Cozy Glow, and yet the entire comment section is talking about Sombra.

Mate, if you write a character returning, and the fans can make the claim that it’s a clone and not the real guy, and have evidence to back up that claim, you failed at writing that character. This is exactly what happened in the Season 9 premiere. You literally have tons of evidence to say that that isn’t the real Sombra but a clone Discord made.

Sombra went from Sauron to Bowser real quick in season 9.
 
The personality isn’t the problem so much as the inconsistency in his portrayal. At least in my opinion.

Bruh that’s the EXACT issue I have with this fandom, is that for some unknown reason there seems to be an absolute raging hateboner towards (nearly) every villain post-S2, which is honestly completely idiotic IMO. The males are especially ragged upon and as a bi female with a severe villainboner and a preference towards men, that honestly upsets me. :|

Sombra:While very dumb for not beating the Mane Six when he could, manages to conquer The Crystal Empire in a couple hours/minutes, and lets himself be defeated to destroy the Elements of Harmony, then proceeds to take over Ponyville easily.  
Fandom:Damn Sombra sucks.

He’s not an effective villain in Season 9, but a great villain great for fanon before that. Season 9 really did him mega dirty. Like, REALLY.
