Several types of drum magazine were created for Thompson SMGs. All were mechanically very complex, expensive and fragile, and there were reliability problems with some batches. There were even 100rd drum magazines for it, before the war, but only a tiny number were made, and they were almost as expensive as the gun they fit–and it is probably predictable that it was with the 100 round mags that there were the most problems.
The simplified “M1” version of the Thompson SMG that was mass produced during the war was issued with 20rd and 30rd detachable box magazines only and did not have the proper magazine catch to accept the drum magazines at all. The M1 was not manufactured for long as the M3 “Grease Gun” SMG, made almost entirely of stamped sheet metal, could be manufactured at a tiny fraction of its cost and worked about as well.
Well according to my Knowledge of Guns and History, the Drum Magazines on the Tommy Gun can carry 42 Rounds and makes it Heavy, but During the Second World War, the US army had to Make it lightinger by using a 30 Round Capacity to make it more Light so Solders can used it.
Well true, the Tommy gun was Fragile and I think that the M3 grease gun actually replaced the Thompson

I think it started out as a tumblr blog, but that fell through.

…you mean she’s NOT supposed to be Ada Wong from Resident Evil?
I don’t know why this is a thing, but I’m glad for it nonetheless.
