I have Internet issues right now, so I could only watch the episode once so far. But, from what it looks like, the Great Seedling is really a big family matter. Not like Applejack belittling and helicoptering her. But something that is more to the likes of a family secret.  
In the same vein as Applebloom wouldn’t invite Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle to a contemplative commemoration on her respective parents’ birthdays (or, the anniversary of their death), she didn’t ask them to help hunting a creature that is so deeply rooted in her families’ traditions and legacy.  
It makes complete sense that she didn’t call them with what the creature turned out to be, but I wasn’t expecting that this creature is so tightly connected to Applebloom’s family when I said that. If that connection wouldn’t be there, she would have called them for sure.

Yes, I am. She always calls for Scoots and Sweetie when something is going on. Even when she had to deal with Applejack’s overprotectiveness, a very personal matter, she called them to help her.  
And catching a magical creature, as a filly without any magical abilities (least, active ones), is a challenge, so she will call them for that too.

Are you sure? Apple Bloom has appeared in plenty of episodes without her friends. I’m sure she will handle this by herself.

I wonder if we will see Babs Seed again.

That’s not what retcon means

So the episode has nothing to do with family reunions or Manehattan… I wonder if we’ll be seeing Manehattan at all this season… (And I think the family reunions have been retconned…)

Finally there’s an Applebloom episode! And I bet Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle will be in it, too, because no way Applebloom will search for a mysterious, magical creature without them.  
I was getting worried already.

Kind of iffy on this one.

Eeeeeeh… I’m sure this will be a good episode, but that summary sounds like something that should have been 2-3 seasons ago and not the final season.
