I can TOTALLY see that happening. And since Discord is made up of pieces from ALL MONSTERS I bet Grogar was expecting Discord to be his right-hand man and then his successor.
 
However, I bet Discord was the one who beat him and sealed him away all those years ago (Remember that the Princesses said Discord RULED EQUESTRIA BEFORE THEM ). I bet it was also because Discord didn’t approve of all the pain Grogar was creating. It’s shown in the IDW comics that he banishes his former lover, Cosmos, because she was destroying everything.
 
Discord is the embodiment of Chaos, not destruction.

Wow, you know something strange, I thought something like this … Discord and Grogar have some similarities, such as eyebrows and eyes.
 
What if Grogar is the father of Discord? or What if Discord is a creation of Grogar and Grogar observes all that Discord observes?
