Yeah, but it’s not really known for being “God of War” dark/edgy too.

As for the Sonic movie, honestly I don’t mind it being live-action, (as long as CGI Sonic doesn’t look like a realistic-uncanny valley anthropomorphic hedgehog) it’s not like being fully-animated would make it much better.

I’m more worried about the tone of the movie, or script frankly. If it’s too meta, comical, or self-deprecational/aware, fans will feel it’s an insult to the series, and themselves, rather then a movie, or love letter to the franchise.
If it’s too serious/dark/edgy, it’ll come off as a typical superhero-copycat movie, and it’d be hard to take itself seriously with a cartoony hedgehog as the hero. (And not to mention fans wil post those obnoxious “teh edge!” memes all over it.)

It’s gatta have balance between the humor, and seriousness/action, as well as the lighter & darker aspects.

I also don’t want them to go the opposite-Captain N route, and be like Sonic winds up in the real world, or Sonic befriends some human kid/teen, who’s more the main character then he is. (Like in “Sonic X” or the controversial Transformers movies.)

yeah the zelda the games do have humour but that’s not really what it’s known for
@Beau Skunky
well we do know some things about the Sonic movie I didn’t think of anything that it’s supposed to be a CGI live action hybrid which I do think is enough to have concern about the movie’s quality that’s not enough to think it’s going to suck.
IMDb does list the writers and the director and deadpool’s directer is executive producer

That’s a very toxic mindset to have, I feel. I don’t get people like that, they’re just as bad as the “sell-outs” they hate so much, just from an opposite extreme.

@Ardashir
To be honest, I didn’t like the show either when I first saw it, but I’m glad I gave it a second chance as I’ve really enjoyed it over the years, and it’s helped me get through hard times, (like my Dad dying) and such. Sappy, I know, but I’m glad to be a brony.

Word is, Sega is making a Sonic movie due out next year. Yes, many Sonic fans are already bashing it, and we know almost nothing about it.

@northern haste
Zelda games like all Nintendo titles have some humor, and quirkiness too. They’re not 100% serious like some assume.

If that really is the case that does make me concerned about what they would be like when/if Nintendo releases the Zelda movie considering that the games do take themselves seriously

My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

@northern haste
One guy told me he watched the first half of the very first episode, realized it was crap, and left without looking back.

To be honest he seems to be part of a mindset that “all Real Artists are starving in garrets waiting for the Intellectual Elite to realize their genius, rather than entertaining the tasteless public.”

And then there’s the people who want CGI/3D to die because animation as an art form reached its apogee with the 30’s-40’s (though some will cut Studio Ghibli slack). They also usually hate MLP because it’s ‘nothing but a toy commercial and Faust sold out’.

I never understood the Emoji franchise in general, not just the movie.
Basically, they took popular emotes/emoticons/smileys (remember when they were called that?) from all over the internet from the past 20 years, gave ‘em a slightly distinct redesign, copyright them as “Emojis,” then make a whole merchandise cash-cow franchise out of them.

That’s like… How after “Roller-Blade” skates became popular, they rebranded old roller-skates as “Four-wheelers,” as if they were something completely new, and unique. Or when the fruit “Trix” cereal went back to their old ball-shapes after using the fruit shapes for so long, they marketed the circular shapes as “brand new,” despite the fact, that’s how they originally looked decades ago.

@northern haste
Yeah, don’t get me wrong, there’s bad 2D films, and good 3D ones too. I just like seeing more art styles. If 2D were more common, I’d probably miss CGI/3D. I guess some judge books by their cover still.

3D animated films also get their fair share of unnecessary hate.
I actually saw someone on this side say that 3D films are bad automatically because they’re 3D and compared to 2D films they are soulless.
And the closest thing to an explanation I ever got to how was that it speaks for itself

Maybe, the IGN give the emoji movie score higher than the mlp movie.
Look at the score for that movie, even the audience score is low for the emoji movie and they give it higher than mlp movie.

Yeah, the ironic thing is, gamers got mad when one site gave “Twilight Princess” an 8.8, instead of a perfect 9 or 10 as TVTropes pointed out.

I remember somebody gave “Super Mario Land 2” a low star score on the 3DS, just because it was “black & white.” Apparently, they didn’t know what a “Gameboy” was. (And ironically, that game is considered one of the best Mario games regardless.) So some oddly judge older games wrongly.
NintendoLife gave some pretty good classic Nintendo games like “Balloon Fight” or “Kirby’s Pinball Land” low scores, yet oddly gave hard to play ones like “Clu Clu Land” much higher.
