Consider that Bigmac never interacted with SugarBelle on-screen before. And many other things in the shows just appears in the sake of creating a new subplot.
Consider Spike and Sweetie Belle barely interact in the show, it’s very unlikely gonna happen. I prefer Spike to be with Ember or Starlight, the characters that Spike have better interactions with.

Yeah, like I said, as I typed it it suddenly made a lot more sense.
It’s an awkward age since they’re first developing those feelings but they’re like still cute children, but the “innocent” side is just starting to fade… :q
