Let’s just pretend that they never said something in the series. It is fun.

Yeah, the true hurts my friends. If you can’t accept something that was already shown in the series 3 times maybe you would accept it when Lauren is talking about it.. But it looks like you don’t. I laughing until now because you guy were thinking that when Lauren said “12 to 17 years old” she was talking about her ages when she was only saying that they were immature, not because they were teens. That is hilarious, it is even on wikia.

“At the end of the day, they need to be relatable to younger kids…”

This is the key here, folks. The Mane Six are adult ponies, but even adult ponies in Equestria have the mindset of small children. The only “adults” in the show are Celestia and Luna (and even Luna acts more like a teenager than an adult).

It's bad. In a good way!
Why is this old post being revived? This doesn’t help anyone out who’s trying to cement a specific age for anyone. Rather it just shoes trying to do so is futile. The mane 6 are adult in responsibilities and actions, but not in age as we’d think of it. But even the foals are given a great level of indipendance not seen in real life too.

As for people making stupid comments on the writing, in an attempt to stir up dead drama… The show has gotten better of course, for it’s got less limits as it goes on. But many of the ideas used in later episodes are from Lauren herself, even if she’s not on the staff anymore. She’s still clearly a part of all later seasons, that were all made in a less constricting atmosphere. Trying to argue if she improved or worsened the show is just as pointless as trying to give a speicific number for the age of the mane 6.

I don’t think you can blame that on Lauren, tho. Working with an existing world is much easier than one that you have to make up first so it’s harder to bring subtlety into world building and later writers actually create a lot of problems or inconsistencies with the worlds lore. Also she had to do things in a certain way since there were expectations connected to her making a little girls show. However one of the main appeals of season 1 is the fact that it is an entire new world that is build from scratch and Lauren brought a lot of new and memorable ideas. The poor writing styles are debatable because you won’t find much that doesn’t have poor writing in one form or another in mlp. We don’t actually know how Lauren would have written things going forward.

What I am talking about is the flaws of Season 1… Lack of subtlety in world building and poor writing styles that developed and got better after Lauren left. No one said she was bad, I just said she wasn’t helping in the actual writing department.

What are you even talking about? She is good at both. Lauren had absolutely nothing to work with in the beginning and made it work fantastically. That’s pretty hard. She just didn’t even have enought time to finish her initial world building. Still I can’t think about much she did majorly wrong while there are plenty of things the writers got wrong afterwards. If Lauren had continued writing then maybe she would have made major mistakes too but we didn’t see that happening. Also a lot of decisions the writers made are controversial in nature meaning that there is/was a huge group that didn’t enjoy them unlike Laurens decisions so it would be pretty unfair to say the show got objectively better.

She’s not terrible to be fair, she had a lot of good ideas as well as some bad ones. Also the statment that the show got better is an opinion. Not one I nessarily disagree with, mind you, but an opinion nonetheless.

Well, it’s pretty simple. The show got better when Faust left. She’s great at creating a world and characters, but not at telling a story.

Just to remind you, the mane6 probably got older since season 1 like Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo.

S05E25 – Twilight Sparkle: Okay, so, um, hey, you want to race?
Young Rainbow Dash: Um, that wouldn’t really be fair. I mean, you’re a full-grown pony, and… Wait. Are you an Alicorn?
Twilight Sparkle: Come on, I thought you were fast!

S06E14 – Rainbow Dash: And it’s probably best keeping all the grown-ups on the sidelines. But… what are we supposed to do now?
Rarity: I think I have an idea.

Ponyville Mysteries #2 – “Don’t be scared, Sweetie Belle. We shall be fine!” Rarity called. The grown-up ponies all hurried into the Forest, Twilight leading the way.”

S07E24 – Starlight Glimmer: I thought you didn’t want to play this game.
Sunburst: Well, I didn’t want to pretend to be a foal, but I know you wanted to play. I thought it’d be fun to play a version big enough for full-grown ponies. What do you think? Fun, right?

You are welcome.
