I hope they actually do get the two Twilights together sometime, in either world. Not to piss off anyone, but because during the brief screentime they shared at the end of Friendship Games, they both seemed to be having a miniature existential crisis, and I wanna see more done with that idea.

Sirens were incorporated very subtly and carefully, so that’s a viewers who never seen or heard of EQG wouldn’t even bat an eye.  
Not everything is a ‘fair game’. I can guarantee that EQG character won’t suddenly appear in the show out of nowhere, expecting viewer to know who it is, what he did, and why we should care about him. It’s almost impossible to do that subtly.

That can be explained as a plothole though (most long-running series have a number of them), and perhaps the writers decided later on to make Equestria Girls canon to the main series despite not initially planning to do so.

I love it. I don’t even care about Equestria Girls (never seen it) but I just laugh and laugh watching people tie themselves into knots trying to argue that something now seen in the show, itself, isn’t in the show.

The biggest argument going around that Anti-EqG people are clinging to is that because the portal has never been shown in the library and because Twilight said that Spike hadn’t been in the Crystal Empire between the Season 3 premiere and Equestria Games, that means that EqG never happened and that this is an alternate version of the Sirens.

Many people are desperate for anything they can hold on to that invalidates the existence of the Equestria Girl’s universe. You have to remember, those people hate EqG with the fire of a thousand suns.
 
Guys, it’s gonna be great when in the final season of FiM, the inevitable happens and Sci-Twi crosses into Equestria, just because the show staff can do it. The nuclear rage from the haters will actually speed up entropy. I look forward to it.

No doubt about it, this is the closest the show has come to referencing EG since Flash’s cameos in season 4. That being said, this scene didn’t require any prior knowledge of EG, much like Flash. EG established the sirens and they were thus integrated into Starswirl’s backstory.
 
Sunset’s appearance would require knowledge of EG, and that’s what I think the show staff is trying to avoid. So I don’t know. I really don’t feel like this changes much. It’s always a possibility, though, but I wouldn’t count on it.

The drama coming from this is starting to surpass Twilicorn in quality. *Puts some of the salt on his popcorn.
 
No doubt there’s many fans who are avoiding the finale and any discussion of it until it finally airs.  
When it does all hell is going to break loose.
 

I do love that this was an actual fight too rather than the goofy music competition from the comics (nothing against the epic music competition from the movie of course).

Because it’s canon now. If the sirens went through, then everything is possible now. Flash Sentry, Sunset Shimmer, the villains. It’s all canon now.
 
(That said, I look foward to see the Pony of Shadows in the next EqG movie.)
