he be like godzilla! him to not got wing but he very powerfull and be call the king of monster! but spike get dragon wing or not will continue love the number one assistent of princess twilight! but if spike get wing, twilight will happy for him and want help him to learn to fly!
Well, if the idea is to not change Spike’s basic design, they could just make it so he figures out how to do something similar to what happened in SomE, but in a more positive way, and grow a little (like in this pic) while getting wings and remaining in control for a short time. Or maybe just do it one time accidentally and leaving him, the other characters and us wondering if he can ever learn to do it at will. Point being, the possibiity of his greed growth used a different way, with a different form.

I dunno, something about it still bugs me. Though, I would welcome growth for Spike’s character, I just feel it doesn’t have to be something physical.
In regards to Twilight, the CMC’s marks, even Starlight’s hair style change to symbolize her “heel face turn,” physical changes to characters is starting to become a li’l cliché.
@Beau Skunky
I’m honestly not sure if people would hate the idea of Spike suddenly getting wings. I really think a lot of people would openly welcome it.
People just want new opportunities for his character. If they’re not going to talk about his parents/future/relationship to Twilight in depth, people are going to look for other ways. Growing up and/or getting wings is one of them.
I will admit the fanart design above is cute, but I still dislike the idea of Spike having wings.
@Hebbocake
I don’t see how it would really, as he’d still just be Spike, but with wings. Sure Twilight’s represent her new princess status, but other then that she’s still the same Twilight. We rarely even see her use them nowadays.
I don’t see how they’d benefit him, or symbolize what (little) character growth he’s had over the past 7 seasons. It’s not quite the same to me as say the CMC’s cutie-marks.
I know some could argue all other dragons we’ve seen have them, but IMO, not all ponies have wings, so I don’t see why all dragons have to. If anything, Spike would lose his uniqueness if he got them, (and be just like every other dragon) so honestly that’s partly why I dislike the idea.
I like Spike the way he is, but I wouldn’t mind him being shown to grow up a li’l, but wings would do nothing to make him “better” in personality, or physically.
Plus, it’d be a bit odd seeing a character so closely related to Twilight suddenly get wings too, and after all the “Twilicorn” drama, I can go without the “Spike-acorn” drama.
Spike’s basic design isn’t going to change. He’s been a baby dragon since G1 (even if his G3 incarnation was a thousand years old), and we’re not going to see him grow up any time soon. He might shape-shift temporarily when the plot calls for it, but he’s always going to be a cute little pint-sized dragon by episode’s end.
Only the Garble thing to give Spike a foil.
Maybe, but I believe people once thought the same about Dragon Quest, and then we got Gauntlet of Fire which drew from it.
How come?
I think they’re trying to forget SoME happened.
Wishful thinking, but eh.

Again, there’s a few avenues for his character that seem obvious that they haven’t touched. So people look for other things.

Shame
A G1 special that was canceled actually had him grow up and showed him with wings. It’s doubly non-canon though.
Or maybe just a bit too comfortable. <3
Except it would be great for Spike and his mental and bodily growth.
@Itsthinking
I think one character spontaneously growing wings is enough personally.
Shame.
