This is their future princess, though, so I can’t help but wonder what affect assigning guards to babysit her would have. Might make it impossible for the royal guard to respect her when she’s older. Granted, I doubt many of them would have careers in there going beyond 20 years? But even then that’s 3 years old to 23, or 6 to 26.
 
But it also might be beneficial if they get attached to her, make them innately want to protect her, or at least make it reflexive.
 
Though how many people would find her endearing and how many would breath a sigh of relief if they saw an assassin after putting up with this for years?

Without the armor on, it looks like Thunderlane. With it on is an exception, but Guard ponies manes and tails change when they aren’t wearing any armor.
