I can agree it was rather .. eccentric. Especially for it’s time. It all came down to what made them money as well. I can safely say I’m glad it all went the path it did because we have Generation 4 for what it is.
 
My hope is that when the movie debuts and Seaquestria is given it’s showtime .. we hear the famously infamous “SHOO BE DOO SHOOP SHOO BE DOO” to kick off the musical number(s) <3

I’m not a big fan of the characterization of g1. all the ponies were bland and practically identical, and every attempt to give them character p. much amounted to them jumping in our faces and screaming “LOOK I HAVE CHARACTER.” it had obligatory human protagonists, one of which was a “cool kid.” the villains were either just vile for the sake of villainy, or because they haven’t gotten enough hugs yet. I liked the fantasy element, when they actually got out and explored. not a big fan of the violence though, honestly. some of those scenes were genuinely nightmareish, b/c the sociopaths in charge of the plot had no clue what they were writing was horrifying.
 
it was a good first try, but as we all know, original works always suck. it’s the fan creations like g4 that can refine it into something amazing.

Have you sat down to watch G1 thoroughly? I very much enjoyed it for what it’s worth. A lot bigger fantasy element and “violence” than what we’re given in G2 and G3 and a decent chuck of G4 isn’t as “violent” as G1(That’s not me saying that, that’s the general review of thumb that the 80s were more “violent” Than today’s cartoons which seem to pamper kindness.

sorry, the double standard was in saying I’m wrong because I have no concrete evidence, but you’re right even though you also have no concrete evidence. I’m not saying it to hurt you, just to point out that maybe you shouldn’t take your own theories so seriously.
 
I only claim that it’s a prequel, because that’s as valid as any of the other bullshit theories out there. personally I’d love to see the mane 7 unearth paradise estate, and make it something awesome instead of the tasteless, retarded bore-fest that g1 was. but until they do, your head canon is as good as mine.

Why turn this into an argument about a strawman? Why bother? Does it offend you that your fantasy headcanon was trifled upon?
 
You have no proof that G4 is a prequel other than a few retcons for a fresh story’s sake, by these new writers that seem to be taking the show in a strange and unsavory direction.
 
It’s a fact that Megan went back at the “end” of G1. They always call her in when help is needed as well. It wouldn’t be mentioned by G4 regardless(prequel/sequel or not) so I don’t know why you bring that up.
 
The Rainbow Bridge is /assumed/ to have been destroyed so you have that there.
 
And as an aside: 1000 moons as spoken by Celestia concerning Tirek is 83 years give or take. Which is just enough for four generations of folks. (Since they seem to be retconning the years, months and days deal that they were doing for three other seasons it makes a load of sense though it begs to differ with Season 1 lol)
 
This wasn’t an argument to begin with but a simple statement of differing facts and evidence/non-evidence from which you debated in an unsavory manner. If you want peace, don’t call things out for what you think they are. (Double Standard or Strawman. Just simply debate or talk without naming. It’s incredibly easy.)

nice double standard. there’s also no convincing proof that the rainbow bridge was cut, or megan was sent back for good, since it isn’t explicitly mentioned in g4. but if g4 is a sequel to g1, then why is tirek alive? and if g1 is a prequel to g4, then where is princess celestia?

Unfortunately this is false. No where has this been stated as fact; albeit verbal, textual or otherwise. There is no concrete evidence or proof of G4 being a prequel to G1.
 
I have no idea where you receive your information. The only “information” I find concerning this in any manner relatable; is a FiMFiction discussion from three and a half years ago about the idea. It’s just theory and brainstorming my friend. No proof, Sorry.

As interesting as that’d be, I highly doubt that as it would have been found and it’s more likely that it’s not in Equestria persay as Equestria is a mere continent on the face of the world and Ponyland is the bigger picture which encompasses it as well as Dream Valley which is where Dream Castle is located along with the Rainbow Bridge that connected our world to theirs which is exactly how Firefly retrieved Megan to fight Tirek in the Pilot of G1.
 
Megan was sent back for good– years later and the Rainbow bridge subsequently cut; Which(although not outright spoken) explains why there are no Humans in G4 and no real mention of their existence.

I cannot begin to describe how awesome this picture looks. Not only that but how interesting it would be in found in the mane series. They would not have a clue what it is or means but people who grew up with the older gen would feel nostalgia as well as a bit of bitter sweet sadness. If I have a day off in the coming days, I might see if I can put together a fanfic.
