Yes, gilda exceeded a reasonable response and should apologize to that as well, but that is between her and Fluttershy and no one else.  
But she also did not seem to even recognize her(IE she did not know here) and that meant she couldnt have possibly known her reaction.  
She was probably expecting Fluttershy to say “Well excuse you, bitch.” considering that’s one possible outcome anyone else would say to another in a similar situation(not necessarily to Gilda or from Fluttershy, but if two other ponies were in a similar situation).  
But then again, we know that ponyville is a racist, bigoted lot who defines anyone and anything they do not understand as “OOOOH EVIL, OOOOH A MONSTER”(remember Zecora)
 
and how do you know how ‘emotionally invested’ I am in the show.  
Better yet, What does it even matter? That’s not really associated with the topic at hand.

I agree, that episode was messed up.

the way i see it. both parties need to apologize as both were in the wrong.  
yeah, gilda was a bitch, and she should apologize for her wrong doings.  
but Pinkie an Co. were a bit of bitches too. She(pinkie) was obsessive with and intrusive in activities that were OBVIOUSLY not interested in her presence. I doubt gilda would have been there more than a week(pony time or whatever) and then Pinkie could have Rainbow Dash to herself again. But pinkie should have understood that Dash could have other friends besides her and those other friends might not be interested in her.  
then there was the party.  
Anyone could see her(gilda’s) discomfort followed by harassment and embarrassment.  
that’s a lot of stress and Gilda is reasonably frustrated. I would lash out too and I’m probably one of the most docile and patient people there are.  
If ANYTHING the whole entire point of it was supposed to be a lesson on how Pranks/jokes should be enjoyable by EVERYONE. PINKIE SHOULD KNOW THIS. if even one person is upset with them, SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THOSE JOKES.  
Pinkie and Dash should have chased after Gilda and apologized, and gilda should have apologized too.  
but no, the ending they ‘justified’ their actions by passing off all the blame onto gilda, saying she was the problem. Yeah, gilda may not have been the nicest person around, but obviously she had met the standards to be Rainbow Dash’s.
 
Fuck the main six. and Fuck Pinkie pie especially. So much for the element of LOYALTY. fucking elements of friendship my fucking ass.

Beware the quiet ones indeed! Also it’d be funny if she starts hanging out with Fluttershy nonconsentually because now she’s a flutterfangirl and all “I never knew you had it in ya kid! Man, you’re a lot more swell than Rainbow Crrrraaaash! How bout we go to this one diner she used to take me to in Cloudsdale?” And of course Fluttershy’s assertiveness gives out at this time, so she’s like “Uhm….well, okay.”

It sounds like you have a huge grudge against Fluttershy fans. If so, why? Did a bunch of them gang up on you and steal your lunch money?

I’m not saying she’s not a jerk, I’m pissed off that people still act like she’s worst and most evil character to ever appear on the show and that making anti-gilda stuff is still super friggen popular after all this time. And yeah she was mean to lots of people, but if you spend any time looking into who makes the violent anti-gilda pics it’s always rapid FS fans.

Half of her friends ate a cake that her bosses made and trusted her to transport. None of her friends could tell the difference between her and the hours-old clones that lacked her memories. Rainbow Dash and Applejack consider her annoying enough that hanging around her is a punishment.
 
There’s probably other things, but those are the incidents that stick in my mind.
