I’ve been in the international cartoon fanworks gig for over thirty years, I am very well aware of how #%$&@ hard to obtain actual physical copies of doujin are. My pre-WWW source for a while was a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy stationed at USFA Yokosuka, is how hard I rolled trying to track this stuff down in the days before eBay and International ePacket and “the practical ability to easily make friends in Japan and stay in constant contact online”. I had an easier time getting key animation cels from Sailor Moon than some of the >100-print-run Ranma doujinshi I have.
@Kolbjorn
Doujinshi of this type tend to be very limited run. As in, if you don’t pick it up in person at the event, there’s a good chance you won’t see it – short of maybe getting it reprinted in a tankoubon years down the road. The numbers are kept low on purpose, partly to avoid running afoul of rights holders.
I know that in Akira Bano’s case, Fashionable Detective Rarity was available for a little while after C89. Even then, international shipping was unavailable, so the only option was to arrange something through a Japanese third party.

@TexasUberAlles
Actually most of the books by Tobiiro Cat and K-natto are sold out on the websites that sell these and ship internationally so somebody posting them online is the only option because buying it from the price gougers on ebay who sell these things for 5 to 10 times what they paid for the book
They don’t seem to have the 18+/R-18 thing on the cover so no (thank god).
@TexasUberAlles @Kolbjorn
And I found a site having a list of doujinshi on it here. Just copy the name and google search it, one of the sites that shows up should be bound to sell it. I’ve only seen the Rarity one there but’s a start I suppose.
Besides the fact that I cannot read Japanese, I don’t even know the quality of it. If I see translated scans of it, maybe I’ll think about buying. If it’s just for art, the front cover would be enough for me, but for something like MLP… well it has to be really frickin’ good.
Sadly “I deserve this for free because I exist and fuck the content creators and their eforts” is the mentality of most of the internet
no they dont
Only the EqG ones should be. Not the others. ;)
