When the war reached Ponyville’s doorstep the younger fillies and colts as well as anypony not needed for the war effort were relocated to the capital. Applejack refused to be relocated in favor of helping her brother who was now short staffed.

Rarity works as a seamstress making anything from working cloths able to keep the worker cool no matter how hard they worked to the guard undersuits that were nearly impenetrable. She left Ponyville before the forced relocation. As on now she has no knowledge of her family’s location.
 
Rainbow dash is a lieutenant in the air guard. Before the war started she was recruited into the Cloudsdale Weather Control Team. After an accident left her a wing short and three other pegasi dead she was given an offer to test out a new prosthetic that would allow grounded pegasi the ability to fly again. She accepted. Only a few years in intensive therapy adjusting to the artificial wing her story was released to the general public, as well as the device. Two years later the war broke out. Like most pegasi she dove for the chance to fight for her home. After years of fighting, she now controls an entire squadron under the command of General Derpy Hooves and her first division.
 
Pinkamina Diane and Maud Rock Pie, were the only two civilian survivors of the Battle of the Boulder. Driven by revenge for what happens to their family they both joined the Earth Pony Guard. After only a few weeks of service they were giving their own command. They work closely with the First Division.
