Sonic Discussion

Holy shit thank god they actually listened to the complaints and redesigned Sonic for the movie. That redesign looks a million times better and is more accurate to what Sonic should be, that being a cartoon as suppose to a realistic anthropomorphic hedgehog.  
Also that 2nd trailer was a lot more entertaining and showed some more detail in what the story is gonna be about, so overall I’m actually looking forward to this.  
As a long time Sonic fan, I’m excited to see my boy on the big screen now.

Holy shit, it’s so beautiful. I’ve never so happy about a movie in my life before.

I wonder how Paramount listend to fans with Sonic, But not with Transformers? (Excluding Bumblebee)

I think it had more to do with the producers and director than the studio.

As soon as they announced they’d be re-doing Sonic, they already sold a ticket to me. Now, I’m thinking that seeing it might not be so bad. Pretty okay, even, as ‘Sonic on Earth’ stories might go. Good to know it spends at least a little time on Sonic’s home-turf. Green Hill looks good.
 
Sonic mentions that “a lot of people” were after his powers from before dr. Eggman was his nemesis. So…who was after him?

Honestly, I think the uni-eyes would look kinda weird in live-action, so I’m glad the new design is kinda a comprise between “game/cartoon-accurate,” and “original new unique design.”  
While I didn’t hate the old controversial design, I admit the new one is better.
 
I love the search orb bots, they remind me of the Cambots from SatA.M. (Also, surprising the name “Robotnik” is back, though I’m guessing later he becomes “Eggman.”)

In fairness, having Peter Cullen reprise the role of Optimus Prime was a huge fan request.

The irony is that a lot of these jokes work better with the redesign. Can you actually picture Sonic playing baseball or holding the yarn souvenirs or the cowboy clothes with the old design. It just wouldn’t work, Sonic is a cartoony character so a cartoony design makes sense like those work far better.  
That elevator joke from the first trailer is still bad though so I hope they keep that out of the final cut.

To be fair, the one eyeball thing is weird no matter who you talk about it to.
 
Everyone agrees that the one eyeball is creepy. The thing is that it’s so integral to Sonic’s design, that it’s also weird without it. So we’re just trading one weird for another.
