I think it’s less of an issue of whether more than one person can be expected to have the same name in-universe (which is obviously entirely possible and to be expected) and more of an issue of how, insofar as the site’s tagging system goes, it’d be a right pain in the posterior to search for someone specific when a single tag might refer to one or two or three entirely unrelated people without any way of telling them apart.
 
Put more succinctly, multiple people can have the same name, but they can’t be classified under the same tag.

I’m suggesting the name Cloudy Petals or something similar for this pony:
 

 
Her mane reminds me a lot of clouds in a clear sky and her cutie mark has flower petals in it. Seems like a fitting name to give her.
 
I also considered the name Lochinvar because that is the name of the color that makes up her coat, but it didn’t sound like it rolled off the tongue easily so I thought of something better, just a little fun fact for you guys if you wanted to know

Look at pony naming patterns. They follow a quite primitive standard, in which you wouldn’t usually expect to find two people with the same name in the same town, and even if there are, they would have some nickname, or some patronymic to tell them apart, and there are no surnames.
 
And as Frustration said, we’re trying to make tagging less confusing. have you thought how hard it’d be to find specific images if images of, for example, G1 Applejack, G3 Applejack, G4 Applejack and Rule 63 Applejack were all tagged as “Applejack” and had nothing to differentiate them?

The toy’s coat color looks closer to the red than the brown IMO, and neither of them match the toy’s mane, so I’m not sure how accurate it is to call either of them a match. But since we’re already saying the red one is him, I think the disparity between on-screen coat colors is enough that whether or not they’re the same guy should at least be open for discussion.

Toys rarely have accurate manes. I don’t think I’ve seen a blindbag mane that isn’t a Mane 6 mane, hell, I’ve seen Fluttershy with Rainbow Dash’s mane.

…Okay, fine, forget the mane thing. My general point is that neither is a perfect match, so it’s possible he’s not meant to match either of them, but one of them’s already been decided to be him, and the one that popped up in the new episode is distinct enough that there should at least be some discussion and possibly a vote, rather than having them unilaterally declared the same guy.
