About much of the dragons having hair and that they’re more quadruped then biped, there could be another reason of how they got to look like that, which is through natural selection, they might’ve gotten accustomed with pony culture so much, that it might’ve made them evolved to become partially pony like themselves, and crossbreeding wasn’t necessary overall, just species that just evolved to somewhat resample another.
Which does happen in the wild often, like any that fly for example, such as bats that moves around like birds, or mammals that instead become fish like in the oceans, like the whales, the dragons are like any animals, just evolving through natural selection like any other.
And the term natural selection, is a type of mechanism that help any species in adapting to any environment they’re in, which allows them to survive over time, and the dragons might’ve just adept to become what they are in g5 now.
long story short, evolving through natural selection seems WAY more plausible, then just them crossbreeding with ponies, and after all at most times Nature in reality wouldn’t allow any two different species to crossbreed anyway.

Weren’t seaponies a thing n G1 tho? So one would assume Hasbro owns them? Similarly why would a species be beholden to copyright? They can reference and feature them, they just at worst would have to pay for each appearance of a named character of each species. Same goes for events in later seasons, as long as they don’t show the characters then what exactly is there to copyright?

It’s obvious that new rules in dealing with copyrights need to be worked out, especially if Hasbro goes on a real downturn in 2024 with TYT as a result. It was a very big mistake to let DF have all the rights of what constitutes the majority of the world building in G4, an entire world has been made inaccessible, so much lore has been lost, and this destroyed a large part of the foundation of G5, so that MYM is ending after just one season. Hasbro would have bought these rights before Warner Bros. took over, but Goldie’s death and the “bus versus tram” conflict where a man who focused too much on gaming has taken over, has meant that Hasbro was neither able nor willing.
MYM has not fulfilled the promises that there will be a sequel to G4 with the reuse of the great lore that had been created, especially from S4 to S9 and partly with the comics and other things like the movie and the books, and now that it ends, it has this followed to disappointment. We got off to a good start in C2 when there were several G4 references, but then came a drought that persisted until now. Many people had been curious about how the old world they had become familiar with had been changed. Now it is clear that there is nothing left.
When the word “alternative universe” is used, this is canon in the MLP universe or “Ponyverse” as seen between G1 and G4, and in G4 itself where time travel, dimension jumping and reality distortion have created the basis for endless AUs. G5 has become AU as G4 is AU for G1, just as a loose sequel with very little concrete from the previous generation.
When the work on MYM is over and if MLP’s future is jeopardized in the next year, the truth about what went wrong since spring 2022 will be released. Then the management at Hasbro - and the Discovery Family itself - may face serious challenges. They have learned far too late from the Ken Penders case when the Archie Comics universe of Sonic the Hedgehog was completely erased and will never be commercially exploited again. Penders managed to destroy his own life’s work when SEGA had enough and cut everything out and start all over again - and this was many years before the situation around DF arose.
We have seen, among other things, in Disney with the Star Wars and Netflix with the new series about “One Piece”, that authors and companies have become much stricter and more open about the creation and use of copy rights so that these are not sabotaged or blocked . Unfortunately, it looks like Hasbro is at risk of becoming the latest victim.

their official reason for making g5 a continuation of g4 is because they wanted to continue expanding the world, as they thought it would be a waste to throw away more than 10 years of story and world-building, so they still wanted to expand and explore.
