Oh wow, this is honestly so much better than what I was expecting. Really the only personal gripe I have are the bean mouths, but I can easily overlook those since everything else looks really solid. Hopefully the comic series will be interesting!

EVERYTHING COMES BACK TO SOMBRA. >:) Joking aside, don’t see what’s so questionable about moon magic in a magical pony show that a five-minute short needs to stop to explain moon magic. There were plenty of mystical legends about the moon before MLP was even a thought. Supernatural/magical elements about the moon are a common trope in fiction.

I’m one of the people who paid attention to that, even made a forum topic about it on another pony site, pay me. :P Again, joking aside, if this really is art for the TYT comic series, they totally outdid themselves. Weakest part of TYT’s definitely the art, so if this is for the TYT comics (probable, considering the bean mouths), they overcompensated.

I feel the same way, though I will reconsider my stance if I see proof. In regards to Misty’s last name, I have a feeling she’ll keep the last name regardless of her relation to Alphabittle, since it’s officially used on the merchandise. Funny, considering it’s literally just something she came up with on a whim. XDSpeaking of last names, there is something shocking I recently discovered about Opaline’s last name. Her first name is a word related to multicolored light, with opaline being another word for opalescent, meaning “reflecting an iridescent light”. Her last name, Arcana, means “secrets or mysteries”. Does her name mean…“bringing secrets to light”? It’s already been pointed out in the past that the way she was jealous of the star in TYT’s Under the Mistytoe could have something to do with this……What about her name though? :)
This is an interesting discovery because this gives us a new perspective on Opaline’s magical talent which is not only about fire magic, it is possible that she is able to see through different forms of magic and is able to reveal hidden secrets in the magic, something even Twilight can’t do.
Opaline has several times made revelations in TYT/MYM about the magic in G5. She is the one who revealed to us how the Mane 6 in G4 could combine their magic and be able to first use the elements, later channel pony magic, like when Sombra was destroyed in S9. She was the first to inform us of how important the cutie marks had become, by discovering their potential, and planning to steal them.
Perhaps this ability had made her able to exploit the latent weaknesses among the ponies by creating contradictions between them, destabilizing the magic that got out of control. She believed she can assimilate and control this magic, and then her ability to “see” the essence of magic is essential to her plans. Twilight, who eventually defeated her, had to create the Unity Crystals in advance, possibly because she wants to prevent Opaline from continuing to exploit the weaknesses that were previously found.
That could explain the “bubble” that protected Equestria from Opaline even though we’ve recently learned that Misty had come from Bridlewood. This wasn’t to block her out, it was to hinder her talent, because she had probably become a skilled thief that Twilight needed a burglar alarm against. Opaline could not use her talent, magic or not, and could do little. She may have been in Bridlewood or nearby when she came across Misty.
If this is true, it meant that the defeat against Twilight stings very strongly for Opaline, as her talent was of no help against the very element of Magic, which was by far the strongest. And that could explain why she reacted violently upon seeing the Wishing Star when this star came into contact with the Unity Crystals and the cutie marks of the Mane 5, she saw what Twilight had done, and that her enemy once again triumphed over her .
If Opaline can see the secrets hidden in the magic, then it must mean that she recognized something in the star, and it is possible that it is Twilight Sparkle that she had seen. It is no wonder then that she was beside herself with rage, jealousy and humiliation. Twilight had ruined her plans, robbed her of magic, put her in isolation for centuries, humiliated her with her superior expertise - and even after she was gone, she continues to demonstrate how far down Opaline is. The fire alicorn demands to get hold of all magic because she wants to surpass the alicorn who had become her nemesis.
We know that forms part of her motive, she wants to prove herself against other alicorns, especially Twilight who she suggests is not completely gone. But this rage can eventually make her blind to her own talent, because we don’t know how the Opaline Arc will end, only that she will do something very drastic. We only know that Twilight had said that there is “something” that must not be opened.
If Opaline can “see” what’s hidden in magic, it might also explain why she immediately considered Sunny a mortal enemy, because not only is the young alicorn her opposite, she also has a potential that seems strongest with her convictions. Sunny’s magic could not be tolerated because this conflicts with Opaline’s own beliefs. At first she had wanted to bring Sunny with her as an ally, but that was before she got to know Sunny’s inner aspirations and her magic.
Opaline must have been a very skilled sorceress in her time if she has such talent as her name suggests. She is very knowledgeable about magic in the G5, and it wasn’t because she is the only one with in-depth knowledge of magic as a survivor from ancient times.

I’ll never understand why Wishday is so underrated… sighs
Firstly, the plot was weak, especially around the blizzard, the confusing book and the magic of the unicorns. Second, very little is shown of the surroundings - so little, that it feels like a mockery. Only the visit to Hitch’s grandmother, the concert and the final scene with the Wishing Star are of interest. But unfortunately very few people understood what the Winter Wishday shows, especially because many people refuse to understand the matter with the star. The problem is that the background was too weak in advance of C3, so that there is too little to attach plots and lore to.
Why is the hypothesis that Twilight might have ended up being the Wishing Star so very hard to accept for so many? Especially since the SoS special at the end of MYM suggests that this hypothesis might be true? Many refused to accept that Twilight may have sealed the active magic, now it seems that this may be canon.
There is a strong possibility that Twilight had sealed the magic to save the world, sacrificing herself by receiving the punishment for such an act affecting the entire world’s population, by being banished to the starry sky. We have seen several times that banishment to celestial bodies or as the celestial body itself as a star was popular for the script writers and the fim fiction writers. So if Twilight Sparkle becomes the Wishing Star, this is not unthinkable according to the MLP lore.
The last TYT episode is one of several episodes in TYT/MYM where the moon was specially shown, such as during the special Bridlewoodstock. There has been no answer as to how the moon and sun could continue to orbit the planet, especially when there was no magic, with one exception: alicorn magic. The Unity Crystals and others created by alicorns were able to remain magically active. Opaline would have died if she was a normal pony, even though her alicorn powers had been removed, her body with alicorn magic still remains. Without magic, the moon and sun would have been hurled into space.
It didn’t happen, and then it just means that the alicorns or magic on the same level as these alicorns are involved. Therefore, the hypothesis arises that Luna and Celestia have united with the moon and the sun, which are firmly tied to the planet Equus/Equestria through the two alicorns that had fused with their essences.
We now know that the alicorns are immortal. But we don’t know how they will “end” in the mortal world, sooner or later they have to go.

with twilight sealing the magic, is that my theory shows that did it as punishment for misusing when in war with each pony tripe, and I think she didn’t have much of any other choice when needing to teach them a lesson of what the magic REALLY is meant for.

with the sun and moon, it’s likely that twilight had simply automated the amulet (the one that celestia and luna give to twilight), and is probably using some kind of clock system to keep of when the sun or moon should be out, and for how long, which is likely 12 hours much like our sun and moon does in our world, and I would’ve included the seasons, yet that makes it more complicated.
and as for the alicorn, well it’s already known that are like immortal in g4, and about them meeting their “end”, its probable that they just disappear like some Jedi in star wars.
