To be fair, I would’ve been less negative about it if it didn’t make the site virtually radioactive to look at for me.
 
It’s just there was one user who did nothing but complain about it (in fact, I quoted him in one of my posts) and yet still got the badge (and I’m pretty sure there might be others in that case too), so I couldn’t help but wonder.

something to keep in mind is no matter what we do or don’t do for april fools, people will be mad about it. we have a “haters gonna hate” attitude about it not because we’re out to piss people off, but because we know it’s inevitable. the user base is pretty capricious that way. besides, moderating a site is largely a thankless gig and it’s not exactly much to ask for one day out of the year where we get to have a little bit of fun messing with the users for a bit.

people always mad. buddy in here was trash-talking me because he got banned and kicked out of a thread like a year ago for something three moderators warned him not to do on three separate occasions. it wasn’t even my decision to do either; i just pushed the button lmfao.

Going to need an extra badge.

Also it was a joke, yet the site was fully functional. Sure humor is subjective, but don’t make a mountain about it!  
Just for that I’m gonna draw more pones on MS-PAINT.

I didn’t say I didn’t find the joke theme funny (because it was, everything else aside), I said it made me physically sick after continuous exposure (which was way less funny for me, even if it wasn’t meant to be part of the joke), there’s a difference.

…yeah it’s true, the waves of fire and animated gifs in the background were a bit too much. Or perhaps it is there to instead, train us to become stronger, and resisting. instead of the comfort of a dark theme that avoid hurting our eyes at night. Nah , that’s not the thing. that’s rough, a bit like a booze with the head of a snake on the bottle.

Yeah, the lack of an option to at least turn off the animated GIFs was a bad idea; I’ve reported plenty of unspoilered flashy GIFs in comments over the years and they always get mod-spoilered as soon as someone checks the report queue, on account of that legitimately wrecks a lot of people’s headspace.
 
If nothing else, the sheer volume of people who bitched unmercifully about not being able to turn it off should make it clear that there is in fact widespread support for such an option, even if the solution in its absence– i.e., “do other stuff until it’s over and catch up later”– was pretty obvious.

I didn’t really care either way about the April Fool’s theme, but I wish it there would have been an opt-out for other people’s sake.

Reminds me, a year, it was like, 2004 or 2005 Deviantart got everybody banned for April’s Fools.  
yep. even !Spyed !Jark and every mod. Many flipped when it happened, myself included. «What the fuck have I done»
